wow wow..great news. I was under the impression that Kindle was going to upgrade just the Fire. This looks interesting... I wonder how much the price drop is going to be for the Kindle touch.... I almost got the Sony PRS-t2....good thing I waited. Personally, I liked the ergonomics of the Nook and the added buttons to flip the pages to go along with the touch screen. Anybody got a video link to the event?

But yeah, epub support is a problem because even if you convert epub into other formats using Calibre (or some other software), sometimes the formatting of the book is completely screwed up so its just not possible to read it.
really? i thought calibre was pretty good...did a few conversions and they were ok on a Kindle 3

It happens in only very few cases. When the formatting does go bad for a book then what usually happens is that instead of around 20-25 lines of text per page, it shows only 5-7 lines per page so it becomes very inconvenient to read and also slows down the reading speed considerably.

Kindle touch Wi-Fi.
cool.... btw, they took out the audio in the kindle paperlight. Many don't mind it while others may have an issue. Anyways 2-4 GB would fill up quite fast if one is listening to audiobooks. The Sony ones used to have the external SD card slot and audio options which was a good combo.

I can never "listen" to books so the audio option is useless to me. So for me 4 GB is enough as it can hold around 1500 books.

Is it possible to download with an Amazon US Kindle account?
Yes - precisely the point of Kindle.
Ya it works
You have to be careful there not to click on the "Buy from Amazon.com" button. I accidentally did that and had one click enabled and my Umerican CC is still active :fear: Thankfully I was able to cancel that transaction :--D
