Holysmoke Posted May 16, 2011 Posted May 16, 2011 If you want to buy an iphone, get the iPhone 4 as a minimum. Do NOT get the 3gs. I would actually recommend waiting till september for the iphone 5. It will be the same price as the iphone 4, which will then become cheaper. The iphone 3gs will be discontinued very soon. As for Android, I would recommend only the HTC sensation, HTC evo 3D, and the Samsung galaxy S II. I need to buy a new phone soon as well. I'm gonna wait till june 6, where apple is going to unveil the future of ios and mac os. So I'm gonna make a call on iphone vs andriod after that date.

Manufacturing may be later or even 2012 (websites vary on this, since no official info from Apple). I need to buy a new phone soon as well. Android has increased in leaps and bounds recently. Overall iOS might be better, but android is getting there. As of now, there are some things that Android handles better than iOS (notifications, for example). Thats why I feel WWDC will be crucial for apple. They need to revamp iOS in a big way. (and it seems like they are)

I prefer a more hands-off approach, where the manufacturer just sells me the handset and lets me make all the decisions about it.

Some rumors were that Apple were toying with the idea of twice an year upgrade to the next model, but in such a competitive cell phone market it would be nothing short of stupidity to not have at least an annual upgrade. They're probably going to unveil it in July, so you can decide at that point if you want to wait.

Though I was slightly worried that they may wait till next year to release IP5 as they had just put on sale the white IP4.
