Irfan Pathan to play for Leicestershire in England's t20 league

I blame the IPL for Irfan managing to only (actually not) find a T20 contract.

It's a setback for Irfan in his attempt to gain full fitness and get back to peak form. There's no other cricket being played right now and all he will di is go to the NCA for fitness and strengthening drills. He would have been better off playing competitive cricket, even if it was just t20 league. As of now its not clear why the deal did not go through or wether BCCI stopped the players from playing in the league. Whatever the reason, it's a loss for Irfan. Being in England at the same time when the national side is n tour could have been fruitful for any emergencies.
