saneindian Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Leicestershire have agreed terms to sign India all-rounder Irfan Pathan for the FL t20 campaign. The Foxes are now waiting to get a work permit but coach Phil Whitticase was confident that would be a formality. "It's the length of time it takes to get the permit but we believe we can turn it around in two weeks," Whitticase told BBC Radio Leicester. "We are keeping our fingers crossed that he will be here for the first T20 game [against Northants] on June 3rd." Pathanm 26, has been a key player for Dehli Daredevils in the Indian Premier League in recent weeks, where he has been a team-mate of Leicestershire's Andrew McDonald. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/cricket/13507429.stm --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hope he gets the work permit and the BCCI nod for this. Good performance there could potentially lead to a county contract for some time as well which will be perfect for irfan as he strives hard to make a comeback to the Indian team. Also it could work in his favour as he will be in England at the same time when the Indian team will be touring. The FL t20 is scheduled from 1st June-15th July with one round of play offs on 6th, 7th and 8th August and the finals on 27th August.
Cricket Tragic Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 :facepalm: Moar Tontee Tontee. He should be playing in the championship.
Sachin=GOD Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 He says he wants to make a comeback to the Indian team in 4-5 months and then signs up for another T20 league :facepalm:
Karan114 Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 :facepalm: Moar Tontee Tontee. He should be playing in the championship. This. Otherwise he can keep talking about "coming back" to the Indian team but will never happen.
cricketlover Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 if he ha signed up for the whole season ie including first class matches, then he might have had a Zaheer type rebirth
Sid Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 if he ha signed up for the whole season ie including first class matches' date= then he might have had a Zaheer type rebirth Nothing will happen,Irfan is an ordinary test bowler,if you take out his bowling record against Zim and Bangbros,he has a very very ordinary test record.Only hope for him is to represent India in tontee-tontee or ODI's(even that looks bleak).

Good lower order batsman but its not enough when you can't do your main job properly.

In the later stages of the IPL, he started to bowl well getting that banana swing which was good to see. As for some of you bashing him for playing t20, what other options does he have? There is no domestic cricket in India, championship contracts were finalised well before he got fit. Why not grab a chance to play in a league where the level of competition is decent? And who knows good performances in the t20 league may result in a short term championship contract as well.
cowboysfan Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 what are other FC games can he play and show some form if he wants to get into the England loi squad?
saneindian Posted May 25, 2011 Author Posted May 25, 2011 Andrew mcdonald is their overseas player and is doing very well at the moment. So a full time contracts looks difficult as of now.
Sachin=GOD Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 This thread should be merged with the one where he say he wants to make a comeback to the Indian team in 4-5 months and the title of the thread should be - "Pathan wants to make a comeback to the Indian team in 4-5 months & then goes on to join English Tontee Tontee League :facepalm " :phehehe:
Sooda Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 :woot: Maybe ill see him walking around Leicester. Whats more- Dont India play Leicestershire in a T20 match in August??...hehehehe..will Irfan still be around...
saneindian Posted June 3, 2011 Author Posted June 3, 2011 BUMP Leics have signed Abdul Razzaq for their t20 campaign. Apparently the deal with IP fell through.
Sachin=GOD Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Thankfully. He should play cricket, not kirkut if he wants to make a comeback to the Indian team.
ensd2 Posted June 3, 2011 Posted June 3, 2011 Irfan what a waste:((:((:((:(( have to bear jadeja:((:nervous::nervous::((
