Also, that win came against Pakistan and that too with an inexperienced and a young team who were not expected to do anything of note.

Yup T20 is generally meaningless but due consideration needs to be given to the one Dhoni won for the overall effect it had on world cricket and Indian cricket in general. If India had bombed out in 2007 there wouldn't have been any IPL. It was only when India performed well that BCCI realized they had a cash cow on their hands and rest is history. Also no matter how you dice it, that tourney was still the first World trophy we won after a long time. If that tourney was so meaningless why did we have open top parade for the team in Mumbai, why did Indians celebrate all over the world (check out youtube videos of some of the celebrations) etc. You may not like T20 or may prefer other formats over T20 but the fact remains that for a majority of ppl that was a pretty important win and that was the win which kick-started Dhoni's dream run as a captain.

We have missed out on series wins in SL and SA (especially SA which we should have won), winning these two series now should be our rpime objective. Those series win and the critics will be silenced once and for all.
