urbestfriend Posted June 9, 2011 Posted June 9, 2011 Losing out WI as a cricket nation is sad, but I dont want our team to lose this series mainly because this team is mainly young and future of Indian cricket, a loss here would be a setback for them.

As long as the dont get their house in order, the team will continue to lose, the spectators will be disinterested. They had a great chance with the World Cup and look how they f***ed that up. its kinda like indian hockey, huge changes are needed

It's their prerogative to sort themselves out. I really hope this India B team romps to a clean sweep of 9-0. :two_thumbs_up:

Keeping aside fan loyalties, I'd want the series to be competitive immaterial of which way it goes for two reasons: it will test the bench strength of our system and it will also test the WI team. Both teams are as good as B teams. I agree with VVSLaxman's view that one series victory does not revive WI cricket...if it could then it would already have revived it when they beat England. Of course you cannot underestimate the value of winning in the revival of interest. But what the West Indians would want to see...their fans, their kids who will shortly take over, their current team, etc, is to see West Indies team fight it out hard. If they demonstrate fight on the field then that will do more to generate interest in the game than just a victory. As for the viewership, the WICB is to blame...they built stadiums miles outside the cities...who the fuqq will travel all the way? At least if there were guys like Sachin, Viru, and Dhoni people would have wanted to see them play so you might have had more numbers. Anyway if the ODIs are going so poorly attended then just imagine what will the crowd be for the Tests...the proverbial, 3 men and a dog. Or maybe 1 man and 3 dogs? So to answer your question, I am not willing to "lose" a series in the hope that it may rejuvenate West Indian cricket because I believe it won't. Besides, if we are the number 1 team then I'd want our B team to be able to thrash the relatively poor sides. And now given that Zak and Disco also will not be going, I think the series will tell us whether India B+ = WI A- or not

WI cricket has problems at various levels. A series win is not going to change anything. Blowing England away for 51 didn't do much good, did it?
