Holysmoke Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 From Techtree With the internet, and more specifically social networking, increasingly becoming a very important tool affecting the working of the Indian government towards better governance, the Uttar Pradesh Government is taking these progressive developments in stride and even going ahead with actually putting them to good use. The Food and Civil Supplies Department of the UP government, in an effort to ensure greater transparency and better interaction, will soon start using Facebook to bring better efficiency to the working of the department. Santosh Yadav, Food Commissioner, said, "Each regional food controller have been asked to open a separate Facebook page on which they will be required to update their status, information about completed works and problems faced by them". Yadav has also suggested that, food inspectors must use this online platform to maintain contacts with fellow inspectors and if necessary, seek their help. Food controllers will be provided with data cards by the department for the same. The Food Commissioner will hold a weekly department review on Facebook, every Thursday, after the system starts in all the offices. Officials have been asked to learn how to use computers, in case they do not know yet. This is yet another step in the right direction towards e-Governance in India and we hope that more states and departments will follow suit.

My dad was also provided with computer in his office room too by the govt. but he never knew to use those too. Not to mention that I have almost 5 spare computers in my room at one time where dad could have learned easily. He also does not want to learn computers and is still of the old school of thought. My mom is also a govt. employee and she does not know to use computers too. Infact they do not even know advanced features of their mobile phones and only use it for making and receiving calls. At the most they can use the camera function once in a while but nothing more than that. :giggle: So, it is not only food controllers but most old govt. employees who do not know or are rather not much interested in modern technologies unless there is a necessity. They are still in the old school of thought way where you should work hard for everything, go with nature and what not. In a way their mentality is not that bad too because our generation on the other hand is getting disconnected from traditional methods and natural ways and is more dependent on artificial methods. BTW regarding the topic, I had hated Mayawati in the past but I have to commend her as she is trying to do something properly now. And it is sad that everybody is hounding her as soon as she started to do the right steps recently. She is now working for development though maybe she should rectify some more things. She is not a Nitish Kumar as of now but she is surely emerging a lot better than the Laloos and Mulayam Singh Yadavs. I dont think this is the right time to pull her down. UP was never a well administered state but she is at least taking some of the right steps in its development.

Thats simply because the UP Assembly elections are coming up next year. That is the sole reason why you have started seeing so many development schemes and other projects in recent times. She did pretty much nothing for more than 3.5 years but in the last 1.5 years there will be plenty of such schemes that will never be implemented/forgotten once the next elections are over. :agree: most of the old people I know use the mobile only for calls/msgs.

But then she is far better than the other option Mulayam Singh Yadav who openly said that he hates computer and technology. Maybe Mulayam would ban computer usage in UP after he comes to power and take them to the dark ages. :haha: At least Mayawati thinks of development but Mulayam does not even care to think. Mayawati is still a lot better than the Laloos and Mulayams. BTW all my election predictions always come true and wait and watch as Maya wins the next elections once again. She has got all these so called land scandals and all but I still predict her to win next elections.
tan2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Its utter useless, there are many things in the country to be corrected. Facebook is a social media there are advantages as well as disadvantages like television. If Facebook to be banned I would suggest them to banned television as well.
