GKD.. Lets say you were the police cheif of a sovereign country. Would you succumb to the pressures of some foreign govt and make a complete U-turn about your investigation and look like an absolute moron ? There is lot of pride , honour and egos involved when it comes to police forces. The Jamaican police will be the object of ridicule from now on. Surely they wouldnt have fell on their knees in the face of outside pressure.

1. Not all countries are made equal in 'sovereign power' 2. Do you have *any* idea how much influence Britain *still* exerts in the caribbean through diplomatic channels ? You realize that the police chief for Jamaican Police who was overseeing the Woolmer case is actually a Scotland Yard agent ?

The Jamaican police will be the object of ridicule from now on.

Now on? Jamaican police is an object of ridicule in Jamaica itself ! Jamaica has pitched gang-battles right in the middle of Kingston, they have the highest murder rate in the world etc etc. Seriously, a botched investigation looks nowhere as bad on jamaican police as you think it does because Jamaican police makes Lalloo's government look clean-cut and professional. I realize why you want to take this angle,particularly when its comming from a police source but seriously, the events of this Woolmer saga are highly unusual. Police departments have gotten it wrong before but not when it came to declaring murder and then changing story to 'natural death'. You realize that in forensics, its pretty easy to tell if it was a natural death or 'induced death' (ie, murder, accident, suicide, etc) ? Like...this is NOT the sort of error a police department makes, especially when the stakes are so high ! The guy who examined Woolmer's body is a dood who's been with Jamaican Police for ten years- and given that Jamaica pretty much has 2-3 forensic experts affiliated with the police and Jamaica has one of the highest violent death rates in the world, you can be rest assured that this guy's seen 1000s of violence-related dead bodies. This is NOT the sort of error he'd be making. This case is very much of a coverup. Oh and the Jamaican police can still be very 'effed' afterall. You see, the dood who did the initial examination is not at all happy being the fall-guy. He is sticking to his story and this might go for arbitration. He is unlikely to win ( if the source can influence Jamaican Police, they can influence the arbitrators too) but he might still medically prove his opinion to be water-tight. If that happens, then the real story starts for then definitely its a coverup.

Excellent information about the "going ons" of jamaican police CC.. BUT - why would the scotland yard want to cover this up in the first place ? I cant accept yout argument that Pak wantd to cover this up... Even if they want to , they couldnt have.. they simply dont have enough influence..
