Its a tough world, get used to it. The first couple of Test matches that Kapil played in his career, he opened bowling with Mohinder Amarnath and Sunil Gavaskar. Atleast Srinath had Kapil and Prabhakar by his side. I am yet to ever see Kapil lament about lack of support and/or complain about how no seniors ever helped him out. If anything he complains how senior batsmen didnt allow him to cut loose (he bounced West Indies batsmen and the Indian bats were scared that this would start the bumper war). Heck this may be the reason why Kapil rarely used bouncer in his entire career. To have Srinath complain about lack of advise just shows him as a crybaby, which he frankly was to an extent. Great bowler, great pace but always seemed to lack heart. xxx

Srinath was a very honest and proud cricketer just like anil Kumble. He was not a cry baby dude, the pitches in India were so docile that it could have broken the backs of anybody and he had to bear the brunt of this through the 90's. That's why he used to complain about the pitches but I don't see anything wrong in this as I have seen Vaas and Wasim Akram do the same. And you got to be kidding when you say he did not have heart. He bowled a mammoth 500 overs in the 96-97, under Sachin which led to his shoulder operation. Just because he apologized to a batsman after hitting him with a bouncer did not make him a cricketer with no heart. He is an absolute gentleman and hence the apologies. And if I have to make a choice between whom should I believe when it comes to KD or Srinath then personally I would always choose Srinath. He had also played through the 90's, when fixing was prevalent and his name never came up while we all know the story of Kapil Dev. And on top of it, he is also a great reason of the bowler that Zak was in his early years. He had guided both him and Nehra through the 2003 WC and the results were there to be seen.
