DomainK Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 I am planning to buy one. There are too many at the moment. Which is the best tablet in the market right now apart from ipad2?
bulbul Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 I own IPad 2 very happy so far.. as you don't want it better go with assus Tranformer..it's bit cheap and heard good also.. or else Samsung is the best I heard... if u want to take risk try HP touch pad..they are doing firesale @99$.... they want to close that business.. better wait for some more time may be other tablet makers , except iPad will reduce price IMO
Holysmoke Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 galaxy tab 10.1. Version 2 (the thin one). But the ipad is the best tablet. None of the others have even a minute fraction of the apps the ipad 2 has.
DomainK Posted August 20, 2011 Author Posted August 20, 2011 Thanks dumdum, I will go and take a look at HP and assus. galaxy tab 10.1. Version 2 (the thin one). But the ipad is the best tablet. None of the others have even a minute fraction of the apps the ipad 2 has. And how many of those apps are free and how many are paid? I hear that Apple charges money for most apps that come free on android?
Holysmoke Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 No. I have an ipad 2 with 100+ apps. All free.
DomainK Posted August 20, 2011 Author Posted August 20, 2011 No. I have an ipad 2 with 100+ apps. All free. Okay. That's cool. I will go out and take a look at it tomorrow. If most of the apps are free, I think I will go with ipad2.

The 16GB version for $99 sold like samosas. Looks like all stocks are gone. One can probably still find the 32GB for $150 [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaeOXyA7wo0]Hitler learns HP is abandoning WebOS - YouTube[/ame]
Desi Cartman Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I cant find HP tablet for that price even on Amazon :dontknow:
bulbul Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 I cant find HP tablet for that price even on Amazon :dontknow: As Ludhi wrote it may sold out..But iread somewhere a person who ordered from Canada online got his order cancelled. More than 250000 pcs in stock was the info given by Best buy and other shops..HP wrote down $100 million of touch pad... @Domaink you can even look @ IPad 1 ....it's available at least $100 less than to IPad 2....differences are camera, ram size....I don't think it will make huge difference.. if you buy HP you may not get any updates or set idle in future as they discontinue the entire Webos... they bought webs for $1.5 billion or more
bulbul Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Okay. That's cool. I will go out and take a look at it tomorrow. If most of the apps are free' date=' I think I will go with ipad2.[/quote'] you can first check in ITunes charts...all details are there of Free and Paid ....
Jersey #10 Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 So my order for the HP touchpad went through after all. I got a confirmation page after paying for it but didn't get a confirmation email. When I try to check the order status...it doesn't show one for the order number I got on that confirmation page. I am not sure what to do now. They said it was free shipping but they charged me 22 bucks for it so the final price was around 127 after tax and shipping charges. I am not too worried about the extra 25 bucks but hopefully I will get the item.
Desi Cartman Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 firstly HP tablet isnt Android so I dont think its worth investing considering it will be discontinued so there wont be many apps for it and definitively no updates secondly, I checkout Asus Transformer at Costco couple of weeks ago and nearly bought it. I used it for a few mins and loved it. I would rather buy Android (Flash !!) tablet than iPad since you can then connect tablet (asus at least) to the TV via HDMI or wireless to some TVs. Costco Aus is selling it for A$450 (16 GB ) and you can get the 32 GB for A$550 and it comes with keyboard dock. Overall its a good buy and iPad is like a laptop with too many restrictions. In the end I decided not to buy since I have enough laptops and smartphones at home and I would be buying tablet just for the lulz .

It's not as bad as your are making it out to be.
Desi Cartman Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 you can connect IPad to TV...need Digital AV adapter sold separately by Apple... With apple everything is sold separately :giggle:

Best buy didnt agreed to Pay for all the Tablets shipped fromHP...More than 95% Touchpads Unsold...So HP wants to move out rather than simply wasting time and money... Only option left is to make Webos open as Google done woth android...
