even then I don't agree with it. He is a sports person and he (or any other sports person for that matter) should be given sports awards and honors or national awards like Padma Shri/Padma Bhushan etc but not positions in the armed forces or these doctorates.

People can bash me if they like ,but I still rate olympic "GOLD" medal higher over cricket victories [keeping World cup aside ]any day :)
