anyone with the aurdacity to speak a word in favor of the argument that sachin is selfish after this decisive blow is a certifiable idiot. this my good friends is what we call the "Coup de grace", i.e. the blow that results in death. good job shehezadda, not much left here to discuss now but personal prejudices of men behaving like 5 year olds.

"Present" as in one game at a time. You seem to forget cricket is played one ball at a time. This over obsession with stats won't show anything in particular. It is no secret he slowed down the last game and was looking for a hundred. It is no rocket science he slowed down against the Aussies in the second dig in 2004 at SCG and let Rahul Dravid do the fast scoring. He slowed down against Pakistan and let Yuvi do all the big hitting against Pakistan in the 2004 series against Pakistan. As I said stats reveal nothing. I have no problem with Tendulkar batting the way he is. He is entitled to chase his land marks just like anyone else. Gavaskar did, Hadlee did it and so did Boycott. That doesn't mean they were crap. Tendulkar did not in his younger days but these days he does. Now how hard is it for you fellas to digest it. Absolutely no doubt he slowed down in the last ODI he played does that show in your above stats? It is not about 1% or 2% increase/decrease in the strike rate that defines a game or a match winning knock. When runs were needed in fours and you score in singles every ball but pick a couple along you will still be over the SR of 100. As I said these stats over the years are pretty much redundant and the context of the game is "THE" thing.
last 49 in 48...repeatedly made room to clout the ball into cover, and running suicidal singles for his partner. Slowing down? Morne Van Wyk played a similar knock today, nobody's knocking him.

God!! How pathetic can we be? we're sweating over a person who scored 99 for the team and not asking even once about the other batsmen, apart from Dravid, who couldn't cross even 20?? Why do we NEVER question other batsmen??? Are they not supposed to contribute in the victory??
May I add my own question marks :questionmark::questionmark::questionmark: There isn't one Indian batsman who escapes criticism and questioning in this forum. Most of which is understandable because fans don't like losing and they look for reasons. Do the names Gambhir, Dravid, Sehwag, Yuvraj, Kaif, Ganguly or Dhoni means anything to you, Chandan ? All, at one time or another, have been roundly criticised by their fans in here. Even as India was cruising to a good win last night, posters were ripping into Yuvi. I thought he played a top knock - as did Sach.

the first odi was lost by bowlers, i am clueless why the batters are being blamed... 243 runs on a seaming wicket under overcast conditions was more than par... under the same conditions, SA against an inferior bowling attack managed only 225....

I'll tell you why the forummers here are blaming the batters....because they didn't watch the game. They didn't see how tough it was to bat there in the first dig. How Kallis got bowled on RPS shows how tough it was out there, batting first! In those circumstances, calling Sachin selfish and only going for his milestone is way off the mark. But one thing I have to say: PLEASE SUPPORT ALL PLAYERS IN YOUR TEAM. Constructive criticism is fine but useless criticism is no good!
