jairamesh Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 The jail sentencing of Butt, Asif and Aamer has made Cricket attract the attention of world media in the most undesirable way. It is staining the name of cricket globally. France:http://www.lemonde.fr/sport/article/2011/11/03/cricket-trois-joueurs-pakistanais-convaincus-de-corruption-et-emprisonnes_1598215_3242.html USA: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/04/sports/cricket/judge-sentences-pakistan-cricketers-agent-to-prison.html?ref=sports China:http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/sports/2011-11/03/content_14029102.htm and the list goes on. These three has caused more damage than just to Pakistan Cricket, it has brought the entire cricketing world into disrepute. They have to be cut off from cricket and given life ban from professional cricket, just like Cronje, Azhar and Jadeja which went some way to eradication in their resective countries. If proven guilty, strike one and you are out. Life Ban is the only deterrent and it's worked for other countries, only one nation continues treat their guilty as martyrs.
Jersey #10 Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 negative advertisement is better than no advertisement! Cricket wouldn't have made the NY times otherwise
ganeshran Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Not only the name of cricket, they also tainted the future performances of Pakistani team. Every time a catch is dropped (and there are many), a run out, batting collapse happens, people will be be suspicious whether it was a genuine mistake or intentional. It drags even the honest cricketers into the mud
vamos_rafa Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 negative advertisement is better than no advertisement! Cricket wouldn't have made the NY times otherwise No, there was once an article on Sachin Tendulkar in NYtimes.
