Laxman praises Khaleel V.V.S. Laxman praised Hyderabad's Ibrahim Khaleel on his new World record of maximum dismissals by a wicketkeeper' in first-class cricket. Khaleel effected 14 dismissals (11 catches, three stumpings) during Hyderabad's innings and 78-run victory over Assam in the Ranji Trophy Plate Group B match which concluded at Guwahati on Sunday. Khaleel went past Zimbabwean Wayne James's record of 13, set in the 1995-96 season while playing for Matabeleland against Mashonaland. An effusive Laxman said, "It's good to see Ibrahim make a World record. I have known Ibrahim for many years. He is such a hard-working wicketkeeper and is always trying to improve his game. how about selecting khaleel as the backup wicket-keeper. a keeper should always be picked on keeping ability

But he is already 29 so it might be too late for him to get national recognition coz for some wierd reason we keep on using dropthiv patel as our eternal backup keeper or mr saha.... Just like top scorers and wicket takers get national attention following a ranji season, I think the best wk should also get his due and perhaps even a chance in a back up role.
