Lurker and CA I feel Bachman is evil and much much more dangerous than Palin just because of the fact she is not a bimbo.
I doubt she is any more evil than Palin Triam. They are both nut cases. True. But credit where its due. Palin keeps sulking and acts as a victim long after she was put in focus. Bachmann has certainly worked hard on her capabilities, almost all of her views I dont agree with but I do respect the effort. Palin never made any effort, even today does not.

Evil? Why? She lacks knowledge in some areas, makes off-the-cuff un-researched remarks, and at times looks like she borrowed Nancy Pelosi's deer-in-the-headlight eyes. I don't agree with a lot of what she says (denial of evolution, all Muslims are terrorists), but am on her side on a few issues (pro-life, lower govt spending). To her credit, she is a tax lawyer, and has some understanding of intelligence issues (she is/was on the House Intelligence Committee). She is not Presidential material, but I don't see her as evil.

I get where you are coming from CA, so this beggars a follow-up question then. If conservatives typically question Govt's role in bailing out giants financial institutions and there is a mass movement against that why have there been not too many Conservative voice in support of it? Not for the entire movement as such but for the relevant pieces of the puzzle. Mostly I hear them being dismissive of it.
Real fiscal conservatives are questioning it - Paul and Huntsman. Most others are just conservatives in name only. They sway with the wind and will do anything to keep the $$$ coming in.
Personally, I am not a fan of Tea Party or OWS. Call me cynical but American politics these days seems more and more like Indian politics. The economy going down has turned everybody against each other.
Me neither. I think we're just old :-). One of my neighbors took a truck and went to the local occupy movement and asked if anyone was interested in cutting his grass for 50 bucks. Didn't get a bite. They were more interested in jamming and lazing on the downtown lawns.

:haha::haha: So continuing with Conservative dialogue, do you beleive in market really taking care of whats best? Or is it just a claptrap? PS: Dont forget Bachmann ran because "God" asked her to. Just like her hubby asked her to be tax lawyer. She is a nutcase CA.

CA, a philosophical question, if true conservatives want to limit the role of government in the public sphere why should they care at all about the role of government in the private sphere? Example : The pro life pro choice argument at all, the marriage issue should nt they really not care abt this?

Anyone who uses their personal belief system to persecute other belief systems (all muslims are terrorists, Gays should be cured etc), consistently lies about their past (I guess alll politicians do but most dont after they get caught once) like her ancestors playing and winning in poker with Jesse James, her dominionist influences, the people she respects (lots of white supremacists), who indirectly justifies slavery wouldnt you call someone such as that evil?

A properly regulated market. The government's role should be ensure people play by the rules, not to push social engineering through bank loans and then bail them out when the strategy backfired.

Eh ... I wouldn't go that far. To each his/her own - again, wouldn't consider voting for her.

Really? Again, not evil, just heavily misinformed, not Presidential. We'll have to disagree on that. To me, evil is Hitler, Osama, Dawood.

I did say most politicians lie, but the other points are quite true though, she indirectly supported slavery etc. Either ways we can agree to disagree. OTOH, Obama till now has been a massive disappointment, even for most liberals( iam not a liberal or conservative)

Is the notion of regulating marketing oudated? Is it even possible to get it done? Or is merely a statement of intent these days? Case in point, Software sector. At a high level you have some key players. Oracle, IBM, Microsoft, SAP etc. Since mid 2000s these companies have been busy doing M&A and consolidating. Often buying smaller companies who used to be great at what they did. Clients would buy softwares from smaller shops and could mix and match what they wanted. Now the same clients are quickly becoming an Oracle shop or IBM shop where they end up buying solutions end to end from one vendor and not the best of breed. In many cases this is causing projects to fail, turnovers of people, less productivity etc. Market, in general, does not care because these are all blue chip companies and are doing great even in a sluggish market. It is kind of a very specific point, but considering software sector is prbably one of the biggest sectors out there today, the question is can a sector like this be regulated? And can you trust markets to make the decision? Looks like it only the CEOs making decisions and screwing things for rest of us. Thoughts?
