Precambrian Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 Easily Sachin's Flawless... made against probably the best bowling attack in the world... and was on 195 by the 45th over (correct if wrng) and would've made 220-225 if MSD didn't hog the strike all along... Sehwag's could've been terminated had Sammy held on to what was schoolboy stuff..

Sachin made 14 runs from last 13 balls he faced some possible scenarios listed below... 13 x 1 = 13 13 x 2 = 26 13 x 3 = 39 13 x 4 = 52 13 x 6 = 78..

Tendulkar faced just 9 deliveries off the last 30 balls of the Indian innings... Had he got say his share of deliveries, (17-18) he'd have not only got to the 200 faster (remember he smoked 31 in the 5 overs preceding that (41-45).... So it's not as if there wasn't the ability to score big and fast... Of course I do not expect this to be appreciated by people who believe the deadly combo of Rampaul/Roach/Narine/Edwards are going to roll over the likes of Steyn/Langeveldt/Kallis/Parnell every day

It was more of the deadly combination of Russell, Narine, Pollard and Samuels - who are not even in the Top 100 bowlers of the world in terms of ICC 'rankings' (lots of Bangladeshis and Zimboks are there in the Top 100 too). Sehwag faced only 56 balls from Roach/Rampaul/Sammy, and the rest from those 4 above.

It was more of the deadly combination of Russell, Narine, Pollard and Samuels - who are not even in the Top 100 bowlers of the world in terms of ICC 'rankings' (lots of Bangladeshis and Zimboks are there in the Top 100 too). Sehwag faced only 56 balls from Roach/Rampaul/Sammy, and the rest from those 4 above. Heh.. yeah actually meant Russell but somehow typed Edwards!

They had been going on and on and on about how "slow" Goddy became when he was near 200, turns out Sehwag was equally "slow".

He hit a few 4s and went for everything, was foolishly trying to slog all the balls out out of the park. I remember watching the game at a shop in Mysore, where a huge local crowd had accumulated, and everyone gave gaalis to Dhoni in ways so innovative, that an entire book can be written about it.

Having a fair sample of their last 20 balls makes it much more rational, but here since you have an agenda, you would not care for fairness. Sachin reached 180 to 168 in 3 balls, whereas Sehwag 'slowed' down after his dropped catch selfishly and took 11 balls to reach 180 from 168. Also, Sachin was playing Steyn, Langeveldt and Parnell in his final few overs, whereas Sehwag were playing people like Pollard, Russell and Samuels who themselves don't know that they are supposed to be bowlers and are in the team for their batting. There is a difference between scoring against top specialist bowlers and batsmen pretending to be bowlers.

(Viru faced those 'Not in the Top 100' bowlers for 26.3 overs, and faced Roach+Sammy+Rampaul for 20 overs only). Total rating points of the bowlers used by SAF in that match - 615 (Steyn) + 465 (Parnell) + 462 (Van der Merwe) + 540 (Langeveldt) + 325 (Duminy) + 476 (Kallis) = 2883 Average rating = 480.5 (Also, out of the 6 bowlers used, 5 were in the Top 10 players that week bowling 45 overs among themselves) So, see who had a better bowling strength? (I also wonder why you measured bowling strengths by picking 3 bowlers each randomly rather than choosing the whole unit)

Very Correct . He was deliberately trying to keep Sachin away from the strike , hitting boundaries here and there during initial balls of the over and taking singles on the last ball to keep the strike . Only when Amla saved a certain boundary in the last over Sachin got the strike back .
