chainsmoker Posted December 14, 2011 Posted December 14, 2011 I am very much impressed by Andre Russell. And Rohit Sharma too. WI has found a gem in Andre. He is genuine allrounder after Flintoff. The way he played the spinners also was amazing. Now, WI can get rid of Darren Sammy. They don't need him anymore now. Sunil Narine was also good. Need some experience

I seriously got the shock of my life when I heard VK replaces Varun Aaron for the Aussie tour. I prays for his bad performances.

That will make Pollard more responsible player Chris Gayle will never be made captain again. Chanderpaul is too old to be captain. He can play mentor to the new guys, and eventually fade out. Doesn't play much of ODIs anyway. Pollard just had a beginning in ODIs in the last match after a string of failures. Not even considered a cricket player by many experts. Not many options for captaincy, none actually. Maybe you need to cut down on your hate on Vinay. He did okay in the last series. Tried his best.

Sooner or later he will have to quit captaincy and the team as well, but they may continue with him till they get some results. His team fought hard in India where everyone thought they'll get wiped out ruthlessly. A few more series, and they'll get better. I still can't figure out who can become captain, because Marlon Samuels is their most experienced player after Chanders, but Samuels' previous bookie connection has made him an 'untouchable' in this matter. Sammy may continue playing ODIs and T20s after he is chucked out of Tests.

I have just checked, he has played 31 tests and 125 ODIs. He is permanent member of the team in all formats. He goes along well with all the team members. Only thing that goes against him, is that he is a very good friend of Gayle. And he hugged Gayle in the stands during a match on India tour of WI earlier this year. WI board might not like it :--D

The weird thing about Sammy is that his Test bowling record is adequate. Nothing special but his average is better than most WI bowlers. On the other hand his ODI record is downright awful - both batting and bowling. Sure, he can slog a few runs every now and then but Russell and Pollard do the same things more effectively.

Yea , just managed to get some wickets here and there without looking scary or threatening. Just like Vinay kumar. And yes, Russell and Pollard do the same things more effectively

I wonder why doesn't he bowl much in ODIs. He HAD bookie connections. He had now suffered for it, got punishment and all. He is now back into the team as a more refined person and player. IMO, if he can play for WI, then he can be a captain as well. Not sure, whether it will be wise or not, like you are saying. I got your point. You know, these lines fits best on Samuels after his comeback into international Cricket.
