Micromax was best known so far as the handset vendor which forced Nokia and Samsung to review their strategies for the entry-level market in India. Earlier this month, the company became the 12th largest handset manufacturer in the world, with one per cent share globally. Micromax, according to a Strategy Analytics report, is now larger than global Japanese handset makers like Sharp and NEC. It has even moved ahead of Lenovo and is closing the gap with Sony Ericsson globally. Strategy Analytics tracks the worldÃÔ 30 largest handset vendors on a quarterly basis. ThatÃÔ great going for a company which made its international foray only last year and is now present in Philippines, Denmark, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, UAE, Hong Kong, Nepal and Brazil. http://www.business-standard.com/india/news/micromax-growsfast/450416/

Do Micromax really manufacture their mobiles. I was under the impression that they imported from China' date= put their brand name on them and marketed them.
thats right. They get it from Huawei and ZTE from China. In fact nearly all the India mobile "manufactures" get the handsets from these 2 companies.

They surely have big market share in India, in a short time. Their website sucks, LOL try downloading drivers from there.. They have given Nokia run for their money.
