shadowman Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I don't no if to call it a riddle or not but can someone help me I have a friend who asked me the following question but the *Rule* is the question can not be changed in anyway. He said if I give up he will give me the answer without changing the question himself also. Ok here's the question. 3 Friends go to a restaurant and the bill comes to $75. Each friend gives $25 total $75 The waiter gives the money to the manager who then gives $5 back to the waiter and says give it to the 3 friends as a discount. The waiter on his way to the 3 friends takes $2 for himself as a tip and gives $3 to the 3 friends $1 each meaning the meal cost them $24 each total $72 The 3 friends are really happy and the waiter feels guilty and pulls out the $2 he took out from the $5 and gives it to the friends on top of the total $72 add $2 total $74 so where did the $1 go? The waiter also has nothing with him as he has given $5 what the manager gave him $3 first then $2 later total $5 but it is not adding up? *Please remember you cannot minus the $2 from the $72 it has to be added. I no this doesn't make sense but that will be changing the question. Because if you change the question there are different answers to this question then but he needs the one his looking for without changing the question or story whatever you wanna call it.
