Cricket Tragic Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I'm interested to see how he does in his first test as a keeper. He showed that he can hold a bat in the second dig at Nagpur and is considered the best keeper in the country by many people. Hope that he isn't another Dropthiv or DropDas Gupta. A few runs would be good but he needs to be a good keeper to start with.
Chaos Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 drop dhoni for this guy?. Even tho dhoni is not like gilly (there will not be another one, infact. The greatest wicketkeeper batsman of all time). As long as dhoni doesnt mock up behind stumps, he will score sometimes...
Cricket Tragic Posted January 23, 2012 Author Posted January 23, 2012 Dhoni has been suspended for 1 match.
Singham Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 I am sorry to say i don't have much expectation from Saha. The best player in India to replace Dhoni right now is Dinesh karthik. He scored a superb century in the ranji trophy final.

saneindian Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 One thing we will see is some energy from the keeper. He is an efficient keeper and quite nimble footed. So will be more athletic than MSD. As for his batting, he will not get a better pitch than this to bat.
Needforspeed Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Since people dont expect from him, Saha can try to play without any pressure. He is a typical FC/ Test type of batsman. Even if he can hang around to give support in a partnership, it would be a good contribution. Feel sorry for him though. Once Dhoni is back, God knows when he will get his next opportunity.

Sooda Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 rofl he scored a hundred against terrifyin fast bowlers??:hysterical::hysterical: He has performed well opening the batting for India at test level so we know he can bat
saneindian Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 Anyone who watched DK keep in the finals will never ever talk about him being the keeper in the national side on current form. I would reckon he has a better chance to earn a spot as a specialist batsman than the keeper-batsman in the national side.

Maybe in bangla or nigerian teamm
vamos_rafa Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 MSD also took his opportunity when DK had started to fail miserably. would be intersting to see how Saha does. It may either push Dhoni to do well or to completely edge him out.
ZodiaC Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Impressive keeping, only decent aspect for us today was his keeping. Hopefully he can chip in with some runs too.
saneindian Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Technically, the best keeper we have seen after Mongia.
Magneto Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 If he becomes consistent, at least we'll have a decent keeper in the team (after Dhoni Maharaj gives up). His batting is not bad, averages 40+ in both forms of the game at FCs.
Needforspeed Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 He will have to be a good bat too. Very few WK can keep their places just on the basis of their keeping.

He's actually a pretty decent bat if you go by FC averages. He averages more than 40 in both FC and List A matches, which no other keeper in the country does.
Crookbond Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 I think he missed a catch today. He should've dived!

Crookbond Posted January 24, 2012 Posted January 24, 2012 Even Superman wouldn't have caught that one. Even Geoff Boycott's mom would've dived.
