rabinjackman Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 New Delhi: Jan 25, 2012 Indian cricket legend Sachin TendulkarÃÔ name has not been recommended for the highest civilian honour of the country, Bharat Ratna Award, according to reports. The sports ministry has recommended the names of hockey legend Major Dhyanchand and mountaineer Tenzing Norgay, as sources have informed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not recommend TendulkarÃÔ name for the award, IBN reported. A few days ago, it was reported that the Bharat Ratna can now be awarded in recognition of exceptional services or performance of the highest order ÅÊn any field of human endeavour covering almost every field which was not in the purview. The award was earlier restricted to fields such as arts, literature, science and public service, as the government found it difficult to consider those outside these fields including sports. Many politicians from Maharashtra had been pushing for the Bharat Ratna Award for the Little Master, which prompted sports minister Ajay Maken to write to the Prime MinisterÃÔ Office regarding the issue. saw this in the news too. Considering India's dismal fate in the England and Australia and considering the mood of the average Indian fan, BCCI might have just taken the right decision after all. DHyanchand and Tenzing are the right choices for now

Moncy Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I didn't see Sachin donate anything to charities or do anything to help the poor in India... correct me if I'm wrong.
vamos_rafa Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I didn't see Sachin donate anything to charities or do anything to help the poor in India... correct me if I'm wrong. He has been associtaed wiyth CRY for very long. Also, since sportsmen are being referred, so why do you want the charities and all to come into picture?
Viki_J Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Bharat Ratna not for Sachin Tendulkar but for Dhyan Chand? New Delhi: The Sports Ministry on Wednesday recommended the name of legendary hockey player Dhyan Chand for the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour. The ministry has also recommended the name of mountaineer Tenzing Norgay, one of the first two individuals known to have reached the summit of Mount Everest.Interestingly, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not sent the name of Sachin Tendulkar, who is also seen as a sports icon of an age by many. source:http://zeenews.india.com/sports/others/bharat-ratna-for-dhyan-chand-tendulkar-left-out_736384.html I think Sachin should be given Bharat ratna !
Ultimate_Game Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Dhyan Chand was the greatest hockey player ever. He is to hockey what Pele is to football/soccer and what Bradman is to cricket. Definitely deserves the honor ahead of any other sportsperson.
Magneto Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 It would be embarassing to see Sachin win the Bharat Ratna before Dhyan boy.

Definitely deserves the honor ahead of any other sportsperson. Maybe Dhyan Chand is best according to you But you cant deny the fact that Sachin too is worshiped as a cricketer..He is considered god of cricket..i am unhappy with the decision thats all i want to say :((!
