akshayxyz Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 I like T20. I liked today's match. Good job by the boys. All I'm saying is that this game should not be held as the evidence that everything is fine with Indian cricket. And the board has gone ahead and done exactly what we feared. talking like typical khoosat post menopause auntie ... Ultimate_Game Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Firstly' date=' [b']Kudos to our young brigade for putting a smile on our face with a victory. :isalute: But there are 5 things that we should not forget after winning this T20- 1. This win comes after 13 straight losses abroad (8 in England, 4+1 in Australia). 2. This win comes against effectively the weakest Australian team we have faced in a long time who made us struggle for 10 balls to score simply 3 runs. 3. This is a T20 game. Not a Test, which we were #1 in. Not an ODI, which we are World Champions of. 4. This win doesn't wash away our consistently poor performances. 5. The fielding over the past 2 games and the ODIs back home, stresses on the point of promoting younger players into the Test arena. Lets not blind away from the problems we've faced. Congratulations for winning today, but there is a lot more we have to do to improve our performance in Tests and ODIs abroad. Maybe T20 win put a smile on your face but after 0-8 in Tests I doubt a lottery T20 win would bring smile back on the faces of people other than Srinivasan and Shukla who can't differentiate between formats. I am surprised you even managed to bring in the test losses on this thread which deals with T20.

And it will put smile on players aspiring to be in IPL team auction...can this tigerish performance in T20 be replicated in Test which has lost all its commercial value (more money for 3hrs circus or 5 days of slog) ?

Ultimate_Game Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 + 1.But fact is real cricket for masses has begun now and bcci knows that and may be the players also . Fair enough but at least folks on this forum are not run of the mill fans. They definitely know where Tests and T20s stand and that a T20 win isn't anywhere near a Test win unless the win is in a T20 Cup final :winky:

Old guy Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 no one here will forget 8-0 but winning in odis too is important cos its a younger team.. so for future they need to win here its a confidence thing if we would ve lost today trust me heads would ve gone down and again that down ward spiral..and we would ve not even reach finals (atleast now they wil fight it out give there best )
