Its quite unprofessional of Sahara to announce that on the day of Auction. What will happen to their players?? If they had such plans they should have atleast let BCCI know few days in advance.

They did it on purpose. Because now, BCCI will once again break its own rules to somehow get a new buyer, or somehow deal these teamless players back into another auction/bidding/trading. Sahara showed flexibility and forgiveness to BCCI for a long time, but obviously BCCI kept pushing the envelope.

While it will probably not effect the BCCI and someone like Tata can easily replace them, the new sponsors might not be as flexible as Sahara and have their own T+C's, when you have a long standing relationship like this you start to take it for granted until it has gone. Plus Sahara are going to put the money to much better use reading the article.

You are right about the bold part although I don't think it will have anything to do with IPL. On the contrary, if the team sucks, all the more reason to watch some good IPL games. Remember, the last IPL, people said the attendance was low cause we just won the WC. This time around, there may be more crowd just to see if their team can win, given that the National team has given everyone a big Ungli.

I always thought the hype of IPL was driven by national team's hype. It started after Indian won the T20 WC. Maybe India can salvage it with some ODI wins. There were empty stadiums last time because its just too many games in 2 months, and hope there's even more empty seats and fallen ratings this time.

national teams shouldnt have sponsors. Just a big "INDIA" on the front of the shirt should suffice. Practice shirts etc is ok.

That's the best thing that has happened in a long time. This actually hits BCCI where it hurts them the most - their bottomline. With recent fiascos - Nimbus TV contract, Kochi franchise scrapped, Sahara dropping out etc. - BCCI will finally learn that they need to respect the game a bit more, and that people will only care about cricket as long as Indian cricket is doing well. Also, Modi was the person who managed to kick-off IPL. Forget about BCCI launching the league, BCCI doesn't even have the talent and skill level for sustaining the same.
