ganeshran Posted February 8, 2012 Posted February 8, 2012 Yea hes admitted to most of them, but the bcci babus were the one pulling the strings......you think he would speak out against them while doing his job? Eventually the babus wanted to kill the golden goose and run IPL themselves by firing Modi. And the whole bcci went into losses after Modi got fired. Modi is now showing how fked up BCCI are atm because they dont know how to run organization and IPL going into losses by losing so many contracts worth billions of dollars. Modi invested in the game cricket as much as he could, he didnt comprise the quality and credibility of the IPL just to get some few extra bucks. Modi was responsible for bring in 8 billions dollars to the BCCI, in which most of it is lost after he was fired. You couldnt be more wrong. Modi was fired because he got too big for his shoes and started running IPL like his personal fiefdom. It is said that after the loss in the Rajasthan association, Modi went to Narendra modi who promised him a post in the Gujrat association provided he got an IPL team for Ahemadabad. so he tried to influence the auction but Kochi somehow bid a way too high amount and won the auction and then the Tharoor episode happened Taking panga with Chidambaram got him on the wrong side of the government. The Tharoor episode was the last straw and Congress made sure he was fired. Pawar tried to save him but there was only so much he could do. The IPL had no credibility to begin with that it lost after Modi's departure - rules were formed arbitrarily and on the whims and fancies of first Modi and now the other babus. Some auction detalils are publicly aired while others happen behind closed curtains. While on paper franchisees have same spending limits, in reality this can easily be influenced by retaining your main players. The one time they actually laid down the law and refused to bend the rules, it put them on a collision course with Sahara. The only difference was that Modi was a single chor running the show back then, now its a band of chors at the helm.

Since when did "it is said" become evidence? You're right about this. Buddy, aren't you
ganeshran Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Buddy' date=' aren't you trolling now with an unfounded conspiracy theory? Since when did "it is said" become evidence? Its not trolling because I dont pull stuff out of my rear and make allegations of imagined bias like you do. This is speculation but it was a lot in the news during the Tharoor issue. http://www.indianexpress.com/news/gujarat-cm-behind-lalit-modis-antikochi-drive/606833/0 Modi didnt give a jack about anyone's ego, rather it was the delusion of grandeur which cost him his job. He tried to shaft Kochi out of a team but their high bid got them the team. He selectively favored certain franchisees and made arbitrary decisions about the auction process. The only problem from Modi's sacking is that all this 5.hit comes out into the open, the profitability of the league will have no impact till people lose interest in it.

The fact that you chose just 1 part of my entire post to take another dig at me doesn't go down too well while I'm trying to explain you to let things rest, buddy. Thanks for the link, which you accept was simply speculation. We know how speculation works now, don't we? See, you are refusing to acknowledge a fact that many people refuse to acknowledge. Modi was nuts, okay. No one will deny that he's done stupid things. Yet, did the league go out of gear when he was in power? No. Is it going out gear after his removal? Yes. As for the BCCI, if they made him do the dirty work, they should've atleast handled it better by making sure he doesn't go verbal to the public with the behind-the-scenes scenario. They're making him a bit of a hero out here by firstly denying his allegations and the government proving his allegations right (Case-in-point : Srini deposing before the EOW that unlike what he had said earlier, he was in the know about the money laundering and had signed the cheques et al).

He was actually a proffesional who studied other business structures and leagues before starting IPL. Even though IPL itself was never a complete masterpiece. BCCI babus(not just srini) thought they could just kick Modi out and sit back and watch the money come in. Wow, were they wrong as ever. What credentials does any of the BCCI babus have to have the capability of running this league? They are alll politicians who dont know jacksh!t about anything, and make decisions purely based on their personal interests. BCCI is in a fked up situation, from the 8 billion dollars Modi bought to them, they are losing almost 80% of that income after he got fired. Whos going to fix it? Even if they fix it, will they get that same amount of income? Definitely not in recent light of the fiascos.

I responded to your entire post. Information in a newspaper is gathered from multiple sources is different from random conspiracy theories posted on an internet forum to bait and troll others. If you cant understand the distinction between my post and the multiple rear end conspiracies that you go about bandying, then its going to be difficult to discuss this. BCCI made him do the dirty work? Who in the BCCI exactly. Modi was doing his job heading the IPL. No one made him do any dirty work - he did it to further his own interests and was doing so till he became too big for his shoes and took panga with the government who made sure he was removed. The BCCI is letting him rant like all other bitter sods like BS. Bedi who come up with a new startling revelation every week and become rent-a-quote news guys. IPL's profitability didnt get less after Modi exited the scene, its valuation and revenue will keep on increasing till people get tired of the league.

They are alll politicians who dont know jacksh!t about anything, and make decisions purely based on their personal interests. :haha: Modi was just as much a BCCI babu as the other nincompoops in charge of it currently. What he did was study the ICL model and replicated it on a bigger scale using the clout of BCCI to make sure the other boards shunned ICL and gave official status to the IPL. BCCI is in a fked up situation, from the 8 billion dollars Modi bought to them, they are losing almost 80% of that income after he got fired. Whos going to fix it? Keep in mind that valuation is very different from revenue and even that was much lesser than 8 billion

It reminds us of the story of the goose that laid the golden eggs and how impatience led to complete disarray. I think the only one who has the flair to run it like Modi is Anurag Thakur. But he is not much in the reckoning to run the IPL as of now. Others are simply looking at the best way of making a quick buck. Ever since Modi has gone, the franchises are constantly pointing fingers at the BCCI, matters aren't handled properly, teams are thrown out at whim with NO compromise possible only for the courts to bring the same teams back (cases in point - KXIP & RR). KTK got thrown out, Sahara is aggrieved and its all falling apart this year as well. The viewership is down. Sponsorships aren't that good anymore. A key sponsor walked away last year and Volkswagen was brought as a replacement last minute. The organizing of games is shody. The camera work is ordinary. The energy, the spirit, the enthusiasm is all dying down.
IKnowU Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 8 billion dollar revenue Any source for this number and the subsequent 80% loss or are you just making them up. Keep in mind that valuation is very different from revenue and even that was much lesser than 8 billion http://www.lalitmodi.com/lkm-blog.php?id=23 Read the article. It was actually 7 billion. My bad.

Like I said, you dont seem to understand the difference between having a different opinion and trolling simply to rile up other posters and create a false equivalence between the two to justify being a troll.
ganeshran Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 http://www.lalitmodi.com/lkm-blog.php?id=23 Read the article. It was actually 7 billion. My bad. A very unbiased source I must say. How about the 80% loss after Modi left? Anyways he has included every deal done by the BCCI to arrive at the figure of 7 billion and not only the IPL. Strange how he can claim credit for the deals when he wasnt even heading the BCCI back then. Things like TV rights have always been a gold mine regardless of who was at the helm.
bulbul Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Like I said' date=' you dont seem to understand the difference between having a different opinion and [b']trolling simply to rile up other posters and create a false equivalence between the two to justify being a troll. fed up with word thrown around so easily...if people differ with opinions then they are Trolls.. Here Both BCCI and Modi are culprits...only thing is the magnitude Modi started IPL after seing unofficial ICL...but he brought lot of Innovation from different sports.. but he also had some connections with RR that make him hypocrite when he calls all others are corrupt.. BCCI didnt cared for T20 before 2007 WC also i dont know name (Ratnakar shetty i guess) who commented before sending a team to WC "why do we need to send team for 20/20 ...what if tomarrow 10/10 game started " something similer to this... Once ICL started these people woke up..and AFter IPL Team auctions and player Auctions everyone realized this is Gold Mine... Biggest issue is People like Sreeni who is in top position in BCCI and owns a Cement company and Brought a IPL franchise..(who knows what kind of politics behind that) as IPl became a complete entertainment buseness more and more buseness men jojned the whole league and worried only about making money BCCI may have thrown for Modi for good cuase or in fear of oversahdowed by him we never know.. But one thing is sure No one is Saint here... * i guess OZ guys realised this very fast and bought whomever they want to get them a little share of pie ex: Damian Martyn
ganeshran Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 fed up with word thrown around so easily...if people differ with opinions then they are Trolls.. Again, there is a huge difference. The main one being that a troll actively seeks to divert discussions to what he has a strong opinion about, even if the original topic isnt about that specifically or just remotely about the same topic.
IKnowU Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Anyways he has included every deal done by the BCCI to arrive at the figure of 7 billion and not only the IPL. Modi was the golden boy for BCCI back then, he was instrumental in gettin those deals. I would like to see BCCI sign those deals again at those prices. :giggle: Modi gave them the ultimate deals, yet most of them are now worthless.
achilles Posted February 10, 2012 Author Posted February 10, 2012 fed up with word thrown around so easily...if people differ with opinions then they are Trolls.. Totally bro. Some people just want to enforce their opinions on others and think they are absolutely right in doing so.
