i dont know how low these guys can stoop now

Addressing an election rally in Khatakpur locality last night, the law minister said that Election Commission had censured him, but even if the "Commission hangs him or does anything else, he would ensure that people of Pasmanda community get their rights". "Can't I even say that Pasmanda Muslims would get their due?" he said, adding that Congress was set to hoist the tricolour in the state assembly after 22 years.

Taking strong objection to Salman Khurshid's comments after his censure on his minority quota remarks, the Election Commission tonight wrote to President Pratibha Patil against the "defiant and aggressive" law minister and sought her immediate decisive intervention. The EC said the defiance by a union minister of the Constitutional body was "unprecedented" and his "improper and unlawful action" has put a strain on the delicate balance of functions between Constitutional authorities. The strongly-worded two-page letter was written to the President after an emergency meeting of the full Commission in the wake of Khurshid's statement earlier in the day that he would continue to pursue the line on nine percent sub-quota for minorities 'even if they hang me'

Does EC have the power to ban him from campaigning?Would put all these vote bank politics in its place if something like this is done rather than mere letters. Disgrace from Khurshid.

Even the law minister of India don't believe in law and when these politicians slapped by a person or Anna movement against them then they remind common people how they are the caretakers of consituition of India .

Indian politicians will do anything for votes. And the sh!thole of politics is only becoming dirtier. Regarding the quota thing, I seriously hope all types of current quota should be removed except for physically disabled quota. Instead of caste, religion, region etc. quota it should be made economic conditions quota. Most people who are entering under quota system are hardly underprivileged nowadays. Not even now but even during my college life a decade ago, most of those quotas were filled up by children from well to do families. In many cases, there were fake quota certificates created. How many BPL children do you see in those quotas? To be honest, hardly any to be properly countries. Make 20-30% if needed for BPL families and another 10-20% for poor especially in rural areas but above BPL. And maybe a few seats would be enough for physically challenged students. Rest, remove this caste, region or religion quotas as these are only becoming votebank politics and is in no way serving what Gandhiji or Ambedkar intended them to be.

The problem is who will bell the cat as all parties get advantage from this quota system. It is only the public who wants them. So, unless a reformative and progressive party ever comes in India, these things would never change. Congress are no way going to remove quotas but will improve them. BSP or SP etc. use quota as lifeline of their respective parties clinging on to power. BJP would never dare to remove it as they are afraid of the somewhat lower caste votes that they have. Southern parties also use quota effectively for votebank politics and so, do eastern regional parties. Parties like Shiv Sena and MNS would instead demand for 100% quota based on region. So, the problem is that who will bell the cat. :--D

Actually no, public does not want them. You really are of the opinion that backward caste, for example, are willing to say "Nope we dont need quota and we shall compete in Engineering exam selection under General Category"?? Do you seriously think people are willing to leave an IIT seat and settle for a State Engineering seat if the former comes under a quota and latter under merit? There is a reason why politician exploit this, and thats because public is as selfish as the politician.

Reduce the premium on education. Increase the number of IITs (lets say from 16 to 100) and IIMs (from 13 to 60) which will render the clamour for quotas needless.

Yes, that should do the trick. :hitler::hitler: As it is doubling the number of IITs and IIMs is proving hard enough without enough qualified faculties. Lets go and open 6-8 times that number. :beee:

If the pay is peanuts, why would anyone bother applying. Maybe its time to rethink the 40 billion dollars being wasted on MNREGA and investing it where you could see a return. (not congress. they are getting plenty of return from this open bribery) Just a suggestion.

Why would a faculty teach at IITK and not apply at a different IIT when the salary is the same?? Increasing the number of IITs and other institutes has to be done correctly. All these bombastic ideas of increasingly 10 times that number and investing 40 billion USD is just that..bombastic idea.

 China is implementing high speed railway in its entire land and we consider providing quality education a bombastic idea. And we wonder why India is such a sh!thole.

Yes. Because like China we are sitting on a surplus of cash. Right, forgot about it.

because food security bill and MNREGA will be funded from the surplus' date=' right?[/quote'] Dude dont bring in points which you can not talk about. You end up bringing China and rail system and claim India should do the same in education. How??? Where are the numbers. Indian balance of payment is in red, china is in green...by a huge margin. You propose we borrow more money just to fulfill a bombastic idea of yours?? Do you realize the gap between China and India's cash situation..for example?

And I just told you that being in red is of very little consequence to this government, considering the amount of wasteful spending we have seen. Taking into the account the current demographics, nothing is more important than Education in this country... Nothing. It won't take much time for this young population, that this government like to champion as an asset, to become a liability. Wait 10 years and see where the unemployment situation lies.

Increasing the number of IITs dilutes the quality as its already being seen. We can bring in infrastructure by a large infusion of cash, but good faculty is still extremely hard to find even if you increase the pay.
