(Was that a way of giving him a farewell?) Scored a ton in his last World Cup match. If he retires altogether, would have scored a double ton and an unbeaten 60 in his last Test.

They are ruthless as far as kicking out has-beens is concerned. They kicked out the likes of Healy, Mark Waugh, Steve Waugh etc. when they would have continued forever if they were Indian.

singhprakash72 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 It also comes to Culture that Aussie have compared to India...there will be huge roar & cry if any Indian superstar is dumped midway no matter how miserable he is doing. Aussies are professional to core ( not on papers like India) and that is the reason you never see a straggler in their team for long. Compare it to India which has legendary story of keeping F ups from Maharaja of Viz to Ajay Sharma in national team. Even players like Kapil dev, Mohinder Amarnath, Vengsarker, played past their prime, the only exception being Sunil Gavasker (again age is not the criteria SG was 38 but still playing good).

This guy was done and dusted prior to the BG trophy. However, his past achievements simply can not be denied. A great batter of the modern era and he also led perhaps the strongest cricket team post 1990's.
