vamos_rafa Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Lord's 2007 comes to mind, and we would have lost that test anyway. Other than that, what? The bloke has been on 2 tours to England, 2 to Australia, 2 to South Africa (not sure, could be 1?), 1 to New Zealand, 2 to West Indies and 1 to Zimbabwe. Give me that many chances and I'll have one decent innings somewhere too. Durban 2010. He was the second highest scorer for India from the match. His 40 odd proved decisive in the end otherwise the lead would have been somewhere around 40. Centurion 2010: We all talk about Sachin's 100 and how we got a great start. There was a great counter-attacking inning by the captain himself in both the 1st and 2nd inning. He was the highest scorer for India in the 1st inning and his inning in the 2nd ininng helped us devlop a lot of confidence for the series. It was the kind of inning a captain should play. We did not win the test alruight but it gave us some momentum. There was 1 solid inning each by him in the NZ, WI 2006 tour and in the WI this time around as well. He had a crucial paretnership with Laxman at Peth in 2008 and he stood for some 3 odd hours in SCG with Kumble. Only an umpiring error removed him. The list can grow on. the point here i, we should not expect him to score those bu\ig 100's. His 30's and 40's have been valuable to us on various occasions. And inspite of him failing on england and Oz tour, he was the 2nd and 3rd highest scorer for India in these2 series resp.
CG Posted March 1, 2012 Posted March 1, 2012 Dhoni needs to be stripped of captaincy and it will give him more time to concentrate on his game,He still as wk-batsman is better than most of our players like dk and p.p who cannot keep and saha although a better keeper has to be given chances in odis first.

Hire a better keeper bat, and scores like that will be the norm. Centurion 2010: We all talk about Sachin's 100 and how we got a great start. We did not win the test alruight but it gave us some momentum. Pitch had considerably flattened out, even Sehwag got 60 odd runs. Do not rate. Pointless innings in context, anyway. And even Afridi could have scored more than 40-50 or how much ever you have credited Dhoni with in each of these "solid innings". Face it fellas. The guy can't bat. Yes. The guy. Can't. Bat. And while you're mentioning this, why can't I mention W Saha's 35 in this Adelaide test just gone by? If you're alleging that a pointless innings by our worst bat at Centurion enabled us to draw the series, I can as well allege that Saha's stand in our Adelaide innings helped kickstart Kohli's test career? About time Dhoni is dropped from the test team. Sure, let him continue in ODIs. But no more in whites, for crying out loud!

No 7 is difficult place to bat,If your top order fails mostly he needs to be dropped from captiancy his form will come back.

About time Dhoni is dropped from the test team. Sure, let him continue in ODIs. But no more in whites, for crying out loud! If I had to count out his meaningless innings, then i would have written down the 2 70 odds in Edgbaston, the 50 in sydney and the other 30s and 40s hit by him in these 2 series. Or the 90 odd he scored in England in 2007. You need to understand that the pitches are not where you can score 400 odd runs. The pitches in Durban and all were pretty spicy. I know you would not agree to whatever I said, but think rationally, I mentioned all those innings where India won or drew. I mentioned the innings which had some kind of an impact.
