Clarke's Return v/s Sehwag Return

Sehwag was crucified by returning in England (premature we can say). He was rushed. Indian selectors, think tank were crucified for the decision. Clarke does the same thing..and he actually aggravated the injury. He is all set to miss tour. So what can we say about their think tank? Ultimately its players decision so player should be solely responsible. I don't know what Aussie Media is talking about this issue. But it was bad call by Clarke. Now Australia will be without the captain. Is Aussie Media laying on Clarke?? or think tank??

Difference is that Clarke has admitted to the mistake, that he rushed even though the Physio said no, which means he is unlikely to make that mistake again.

Clarke returned because he was desperate to help his team win. Sehwag returned because he was selfish and wanted to score runs which would not be added to India's total.

:hysterical::hysterical: Clowns galore - the guy just scored a faster than a run a ball century before openly admitting he rushed his comeback. When did Sehwag do either things - the clown was supposedly fit during the England tour where he scored a King Pair!

Let me pick you up on this point. So, is our judgment based on the final result ? I mean lets get into the shoes of a player here. X is injured/not fit/borderline fit, X wants to come back. How should he decide? He obviously doesn't know what he's going to score before the game. Therefore, what does he base his decision on?

Also note the subtle difference of playing in a Test match versus playing in an ODI.

That is not the point. Both rushed their comebacks. Its player call (if they do not listen to physios) and player should be dropped if they ever make the rush calls doesn't matter if they score run a ball century..

There are a few differences and Clarke/Mickey Arthur (Aus coach) have stated the same... 1. It was a one-off odi instead of a Test series 2. Aus were willing to gamble on a one-off odi and they knew the risk fully well, and in worst case scenario Clarke would have to miss odi series in WI with the plus being Aus winning the tri-series. Aus should be able to handle WI in odi series without Clarke without too much difficulty and it was a gamble worth taking. 3. Clarke was in a rich vein of form before risking re-injuring himself having scored runs galore in Tests against India and also performed well in the tri-series. Sehwag on the other hand was coming back after a serious injury without any form to speak of, and Sehwag was still way too unfit to play a Test series. I doubt Clarke would have rushed back if he had to play a Test match. 4. Clarke was match-fit though not 100% recovered from the injury. Sehwag on the other hand wasn't in any shape to return to top cricket having no match fitness to speak of and didn't even have a domestic game in the 2-3 months before his comeback in Eng. Clarke had played just a week back and his sole concern was injury and not his form or match fitness.
