ViruRulez Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Chandigarh, March 10 (IANS) Jats, who are seeking quotas in government jobs, are likely to intensify their agitation after the Haryana government refused to release nearly 100 leaders of the community who were arrested for violent protests. The agitating Jat community had Friday again blocked highways and railway tracks in Haryana's Hisar district after the government failed to release their arrested leaders. The Jat leadership had set a deadline till noon Friday for the Haryana government to release the leaders after violence over the past two days left one youth dead and several injured. Jat leaders said they would not hold any talks with the administration or the state government till their leaders were released. The protestors placed trees and boulders on the highways connecting Hisar with Delhi, Jind, Bhiwani and Chandigarh and also blocked the Hisar-Delhi railway track. The Jats refused to perform the last rites of the youth, his body was kept in a glass coffin at the railway track near Mayyar village, 25 km from Hisar. According to Director General of Police (Haryana) Ranjiv Dalal, 24 companies of paramilitary forces, comprising nearly 2,500 personnel, had already been deployed in the district and six more companies would reach shortly. This was in addition to Haryana police personnel. The army was also asked to be on standby. The Jat community has been agitating for the last few days, seeking reservation in government jobs in the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category. The Jats blamed Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for going back on earlier promises and using delaying tactics and force to break up the agitation. Tensions have been running high in the district over the last week. On Wednesday, a day after a youth was killed in police firing, protestors blocked the national highway to Delhi and railway tracks. They allegedly also set a police station on fire and ransacked a bank branch near Hisar Cantt, 300 km from here. Sandeep, 20, was killed early Tuesday as police attempted to remove protesting Jats from the railway track near Ramayan and Mayyar villages in the district. Nearly 25 protestors were injured in police action Tuesday. Of these, 10 were seriously injured and admitted to hospitals here and in Rohtak. And to be honest, how are Jats in Haryana underprivileged? I hate reservations based on caste, religion etc. and the only criteria can be economic conditions. I have great respect for Jat brothers but if somebody does not need reservations then it is definitely somebody like Parsis or Haryana Jats. Yes, maybe the comparison between the two is not fair but a large portion of Haryana Jats have become crorepati and not multi crorepatis and I have seen it myself with all my Jat friends while in Delhi. Everyone of them have a few high end cars for multiple members of the family which they rather purchase with cash instead of loans or anything else. The job scenario and development is not at all bad in Haryana compared to the rest of India. So, how are they backward and why do they deserve reservation. I was p!ssed off during my college life as do most others due to facing problems being a general category student whereas my reserved category friends from far better families and economic conditions used to get benefits and easier admissions. I have always said that any reservation must only be based on the economic conditions and no other criteria. Congress is a leecher who has been using the reserved category game for long for vote bank politics. But what I do not understand is that why BJP never opposes it too. Even in the Jat agitation, BJP is siding with the Jats and provoking them for more agitations. Another person died in this agitation and numerous have died in the past in the reservation politics. When will this end and why does every national party use it for their benefit instead of ending this quota system. Even in case of BJP, I am really worried about their double standards. I liked their opposition to the Muslim quota which is absolutely right and said that they are against religion based or any such thing based reservations. But then are provoking and supporting the reservations in Haryana which is really pathetic and displays that they are not serious about their words. They are also looking for short term gain like the Congress and it seems the country and the politicians across political lines are only going downhill with time.
surajmal Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 It is that langda chautala's doing. That maader **** is millstone around Haryana's peoples' necks. I hate congress but in case of Haryana, I would vote for them 10/10 times just so that langda doesn't come into power. Now that bhajan lal is gone, BJP has no footprint in Haryana. So it is either Hooda or Chautala. And considering anti incumbency will play a factor in next state elections, Chautala is bound to come into power.:facepalm:

Stuge Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 Well ,there is no end to this reservation until it is scraped from the constitution .No party has balls to do that because they will lose their vote banks .So you will see Genie of reservation sprouting every now and then . Its because of reservation that many general candidates are sucked into getting fake SC/OBC certificates . Coming back to political Parties : BJP vote card is Hindus ,Congress its Muslims ,BSP: Dalit and so on .So .from time to time you will see double standards .

Well this is not going to work as the policy will be called discriminatory .Also any party will not say this because then they will loose votes of these castes permanently and will not gain votes of any particular caste.
