The fundamental goal of any philosophy is to seek mental calm- be it through knowledge or beleif. Ultimately, the 'path is many, goal is the same' argument does hold true for all ways of life- the variations are in what takes us to that goal (happiness) and how much we are/we arn't willing to delude ourselves to keep ourselves from doing any hard thinking (often can cause some very unhappy conclusions before you learn to deal with it). That is the bottomline to all philsophies & religion IMO.
