Ultimate_Game Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 I was shocked to learn that India actually has a bowler similar to Murali who bagged 52 wkts in just 11 FC games but he was reported for illegal bowling action by our own board/umpires and has spent the last 2-3 years in wilderness. Parmar whose action was a clone of Murali's and so was his performance at FC level was then forced to remodel his action and has never been the same again. My question for BCCI is how is it Murali/Ajmal/Akhtar's actions are considered legal while Parmar's isn't? Why did we fight so hard for Murali and leave one of our own promising youngsters to fend for himself? Is it just because Parmar is an Indian and thus wouldn't have helped BCCI garner a precious vote on the ICC voting table? When we are crying out for bowlers and we see likes of Murali/Ajmal/Akhtar get away with blatant chucking and that too coz our board backed them, it's very tough to digest the fact that a very promising youngster's career has been sidelined. If he had been a Lankan, Pakistani or B'deshi he would probably be a start right now with 200 intl wkts against his name.

He also said with his new action he won't be taking bags of wickets. I posted this on the other thread. This guy got called for chucking in South Africa during the u19 world cup (BCCI just stoodby and accepted the verdict). Then after few modifications was allowed to bowl in two Ranji seasons (taking wickets at an average of 15), and then got called for chucking again, BCCI banned him, and botched their handling of him, unbanned him and banned him, and rested him whilst rehabilitating. And now he has turned into an ordinary bowler relying on the surface for turn according to the bowler himself. "It has been a difficult time for me. I've worked very hard on my new action. Since I liked Muralitharan, I earlier tried to bowl like him with a cross-run up. That way I could turn the ball anywhere, my 'doosra' was very affective, and I was able to bag a lot of wickets." "I now have a straight run-up and a straight bowling action. But with this action, I rely more on the surface for turn, I may not be able to bag a big haul of wickets like before," Parmar said. To make up for that though, Parmar said he has worked upon his batting and is trying to be an all-rounder. BCCI being the richest board don't even have their own team of specialist to judge bowling actions. :facepalm: This is what BCCI and Indian cricket has come down to, turning cricket into a soap with white dancing girls whilst corrosion eats the domestic first class circuit, laying it to waste which is only capable of producing ***wits like Vinoy Koomar and Jaddu. Now they are left with putting out ads in the newspaper calling out for "talent". Hopeless

They have a monopoly of the world cricket's finances, the millions that IPL earns and yet have to resort to placing desperate ads in papers to find new young players :facepalm: The neglect of domestic cricket and the complete lack of forward planning/strategy is disgusting. You cannot find a stupider association in any sport.

After performing so well in domestic cricket and following in the footsteps of his idol (Murali) he has been let down by his own board. If I were part of the BCCI setup I would have asked ICC why Parmar's action is illegal while Murali's was not.

If I'm not mistaken, Sourav Ganguly saw him bowl and thought that he was a good bowler. IIRC, he played against the likes of Hughes, Katich etc for India A and did well.

bajrang Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Boss' date=' 15 degree limit still holds true - defect or not.[/quote'] i know but in case of murli and ajmal it was natural bend in their arm and add to that 15 degree limit. so it is well past 15 degree. murli never needed that 15 degree bend rule, his arm were naturally locked at 13-14 degree. ajmal is said to be bending at 20+ degrees (his natural bend plus that 15 degree relaxation) all am i saying that if he had some medical condition it would have been easy for him. but on video his arms seem perfectly normal. he cant enjoy the loophole that ajmal and murli enjoy.
