Indeed. He'll be 32 at the start of his next Test. Pigeon played till 37. The particularly meritorious aspect of his 26 wickets in the 5 Ashes Tests was we no longer have a straight out fast bowler's wicket, as the WACA (Perth) used to be. Not one. Any good Test wicket will have a bit of early juice but we have no greentops McGrath had a slightly better record in 58 away Tests than his 66 home ones.

Both Australia and SA have bouncy wickets. When Clark will do as good on the low and slow sub-continent wickets, then only we can say that he has really replaced McGrath! And he better than other opposition bowlers in the tests played because the batting line up of SA is not quite great where even Indian bowlers made them sweat. And the English batting line-up isn't as extra-ordinary as Australia too, no matter how much you hype them!

Yes , we dont get greentops nowadays. But surely , the wickets in Australia and South Africa are known to be the most fast-bowler friendly of all. So yes . lets wait for his performance in the sub-continent.
