King Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 No surprises is there? Mostly soccer teams and few american sports teams. To be fair, the likes of Tiger makes way more than this but obviously he plays an individual sport. This pay means nothing for blokes like Tendulkar that makes most money outside his payment from his employer i.e BCCI
Roshanrocks Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 why is this in CT? :hmmm: Mods have boycotted ICF or what? Joined Air India?
ricky8741 Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 soccer teams have no salary cap unlike ipl and nfl

jairamesh Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 IPL players are the most overpaid players compared to other professional leagues. Teams in the NBA and MLB play over 100 games per season!! Alot of the top European football clubs play over 60 games a season. Cricket players in IPL have never had it so easy in terms of proportion of workload to salary.
Crookbond Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I wouldn't say IPL players are "over" paid. In addition to IPL, they also play for their country. It's their scarcity of time for playing for the club which increases their "worth".

The Ranking are based on Average Salary per Week. So I do not think overpaid at all
Zelig Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 LA Angels jumped from 28th position (last year) to 13th just coz of one player ar$ehole Pujols. "You may be an angel but you can burn in hell" :finger:
bulbul Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 IPL annual figures extrapolated, pro rata, from weekly figures

Well the best paid NBA players get paid 10x the salary of the best paid IPL players and they play approx 5x the number of the games. Kobe makes about 20 mill for 82 games. Gauti makes 2.4 for 16 games. Ofc this doesn't include playoffs or CL. In terms of Work ethic and practice and professionalism, ofc cricketers aren't anywhere close to these other real athletes, but that's a different story.
Sidhoni Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 60 (54) Chennai Super Kings IPL £2,154,524 (£41,433) $3,555,396 ($68,373)
Sidhoni Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 74 (40) Kings XI Punjab IPL £1,785,180 (£34,330) $2,945,904 ($56,652)

IPLers play 16-18 games in the span of about 7 weeks. (includes extensive travel as well across the length and breadth of the country - and in the hottest season). Add to that Champions League matches Add to that another 5 games for top 4 teams in the CL in a matter of abt 10 days.. a team like MI end up playing 23 odd matches in just about 8-9 weeks. Compare that with footballers who play their set of 60 odd games in about 36-40 weeks (in wintertime primarily)

IPL squads are big too. And plenty of teams of foreigners in their team. And I also included NBA and MLB where teams play well over 100 games!!
