This is what Sonia Gandhi said in 1998 : "Ju kuchh June 6 ko hua, uska mujhe dukh hua (I am anguished by the events of June 6)" . I would think a padma bhushaned "historian" could be expected to look beyond the headline of the news report and read the actual statement of Sonia Gandhi.

If Guha thinks Modi garlanding three cricketers at the airport would amount to an apology for 2002 riots, then Sonia Gandhi's statement would also seem like an apology to him for 1984 riots.

He does not even claim that it is a quote. He does not mention it any where else, including the article about the yoga camps. He was trying his hand at caricaturing Modi which he also attempted elsewhere in the interview. My disagreement was precisely on whether it was a direct quote. Not whether such a camp was held. Guha also gives an insight into his severely limited mental faculties when he suggests that if Modi had garlanded 3 cricketers at the airport it would have been an apology for the 2002 riots.
