Why? Its lead by a guy who is going to destroy BJP right?
the Congress' position become much, much worse than last time so BJP will definitely gain some seats because of that. But it won't gain as many as it could because of polarization happening due to Modi being the leader.

"Secular" Rural" are always bigger than "corruption" "terrorism" etc.

this time there is much, much more corruption and things like high prices etc. Last time Cong also got urban votes in many areas - that may not happen this time due to these issues.

After making such an incoherent post, you are talking about logic? 1. How did you deduce I was unaware of the Nellie riots? 2. How did you deduce that the victims should not be given justice? Let me put it again in clear and simple English - let's see if you can grasp it this time. In the context of the upcoming elections, talking about Nellie or '84 is irrelevant because none of the administrators involved then are candidates now. However, the man in charge when '02 happened is at the forefront of the elections. So it makes no sense to talk about the administrative failures and state involvement from Nellie and '84, while being completely relevant to talk about '02.
Such a irrational post again. Firstly, you asked if there were "big" riots other than 84s, I presented to you one case, there are tons more if interested. And are you fighting for elections or justice? And FYI, the party in charge at that time was Congress and they still do exist today and regard Rajiv Gandhi as their hero and will also be part of the upcoming elections. So if you are fighting for either justice or elections, given your so called "superior" standards I expect you to expose the biggest communal party Congress for the biggest anti Muslim riots in India.

People are also attracted to Modi so it will about the "net" effect. Just like some people are attracted to Congress as their corruption benefits them a lot whereas some people get destroyed by their corruption.

even at its highest point and with the Ram Mandir issue polarizing voters like no other issue has ever done, the BJP got 182 (55 of which came from UP itself - something which won't happen even in Modi's wildest dreams). Do you think Modi as a factor will be more powerful than even the Ram Mandir issue and will polarize more votes in BJP's favour?

But BJP didn't do well because it didn't have the strong PM candidate. This time around, they do have one alongside with the anti incumbency factor. Any opposition needs these 2 factors to be in a good fighting position. And BJP needs to be move from the tested and failed twice method with Advani, and so next best choice is Modi. Until you have a better alternative, you are making a issue out of a non-issue.

Advani was a very strong PM candidate. The problem was that the BJP ran a negative campaign which backfired. This time they have a strong but extremely polarizing figure......lets see what he does.

Hope they use Modi's picture as big as possible in center of the banners & can throw small pictures of budda brigade in a corner.

Oh come on!!! I read the whole thing and it was so partial it looked like an essay on "your favourite leader".
My post had been edited, maybe you should check that again.:winky: And then, it is firstly subjective and poor to counter attack everything as simply being partial. Makes a mess of a debate. Have reasons whether correct or wrong (that's part of the debate) but still have reasons. You are a better poster I believe.

Nope. Advani was a weak candidate who added nothing to challenge the existing status quo and when you are out on polarization, you need to also know that Advani himself could be counted there. So can Rahul Gandhi as well. Politics itself is polarizing. So no running away from it.

Besides, he was the choice of the entire NDA while Modi's elevation as campaign chief has already broken up the NDA with no new partners in sight. BJP on its own cannot hope to achieve a big success and allies won't join in for pre poll alliance of Modi is the leader.
