Sehwag1830 Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 STAR India, which will also has the rights to telecast domestic matches, wants the four-day Ranji Trophy matches to start on Fridays, so that it can exploit Saturdays and Sundays for commercial purposes. http://cricket.yahoo.com/news/star-wants-ranji-ties-at-weekends.html
MCcricket Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Money talks, not bad for the game either, more coverage, viewer ship, better for players and the game.
Precambrian Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Very good point by Star. Atleast the marquee clashes like Mumbai vs TN etc hould be scheduled over weekend.
Tapioca Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 It is an obvious thing but does not get happen at all. Four or five years back, every match that Tamil Nadu played in Chennai was played entirely on weekdays.
Needforspeed Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Hopefully, this may generate some interest among the general public for domestic cricket. In fact BCCI should go one step ahead and make them Day-Night matches. There have been a lot of calls to make Test matches Day-Night affairs. So BCCI can pioneer these while getting more viewership for domestic matches.
Precambrian Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 yep - one good thing about IPL is that it has catapulted hitherto unheard of names into the big league - the likes of Saurabh Tiwary, Shikhar Dhawan, Rao, Bisla, etc are now familiar names across India... it will be nice if STAR structures a campaign around these guys and do a splash across their boutique.. which includes Star Plus, News etc... All OD matches should be made day nighters
saneindian Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Excellent idea. Hopefully unlike Neo, Star does some exclusive shows around domestic cricket and there is some emphasis on the players doing well. Also, can Star use its influence to get us some good quality pitches as well?
