This will end all the BS, if enough people support him and his movement then they will win else they can stop the dharnas. They cant just run and win without establishing rapport with the masses. They need to convince people who vote for caste and religion. Lets see what happens BTW regional parties will gain max out of this as Anna's vote will come out of Congress and BJP. Also, I expect Modi & co to quickly implement lokpal type bills wherever they can, that way they can expect his support after 2014

1983-2011 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Everyone is overwhelming supporting Anna's move to form a political party. Several news channels are running the voting on whether Team Anna should form political party and almost 95% voters are SMSing "yes" on the channels. On Zeenews website, the poll is showing 98% yes votes supporting a political party by Team Anna. NDTV (the supposedly Congress vehicle as alleged by many) is also showing nearly 80% supporting Anna joining politics. Their question is a bit twisted to be honest as Anna said he will not enter politics himself if possible but only will select non-corrupt and good candidates. So, NDTV being a Congress vehicle has perhaps twisted the question from what I can see to show him in a bit of negative light. Yet, there is nearly 80% positive votes. India Against Corruption facebook page also showing most positive votes for Team Anna providing a political alternative. Even Wall Street Journal is showing more than 80% positive votes for Anna entering politics though the question is again twisted there. Good support from what it seems but then it is not easy to win just from support as many things including caste, region, religion, economic class, money, alcohol etc. influence voting patterns in India. And most of the people voting either on TV or internet are middle class who hardly ever vote that enthusiastically. Hope for the best though it is tough road ahead. They need to plan well even for winning a few seats in 2014. They might try to cleanse the system once they enter it but the toughest job is to enter it while being honest. The first hurdle of getting votes is the toughest one. Many honest people have failed in it. Let us see how they go ahead with their plans. They need to immediately work on grassroots if they plan to even start for 2014. Realistically speaking a national party would take at least 15 years to even grow enough base to become national in a realistic sense. It is not impossible. Parties change and have done so especially regional parties very quickly. But in most cases those parties are ones with massive money power and ability to buy votes directly or indirectly. I honestly want to see the system changed and best of luck to them. the people who have voted yes does not mean they will vote team anna in elections, the questioned asked "should team anna join politics", i voted yes because i think this is a better option rather than holding the "publicly elected" parliament to ransom.

They have not yet confirmed the future plan of action regarding the details or the name of the political party but have now fully confirmed it will be a political party for sure. Former Army chief Gen V K Singh also joined today's announcement on the dais at Jantar Mantar. Hope that they make proper research and do not decide anything in haste. In the paste, political parties have formed quickly and won but only in regional politics. In fact, most of the regional political parties were formed initially after an agitation in most cases and they suddenly came to power in their first elections itself. Be it JMM in Jharkhand, AGP in Assam, TDP in AP (also YSR Congress in AP seems to be sure to cling to power in its first election), DMK, AIADMK in TN etc. So, it is not impossible but most of those agitations were on regional issues and not on national issues. Hard to bring such miracles in national politics as the vote is a lot more fragmented at the national level. But then Jayaprakash Narayan and Janata Party brought about rapid change to Indian politics and laid the base for nearly half of the major parties present today including several regional parties. So, not impossible but only time will tell. They should use a good team of political analyst/scientist including people such as Yogendra Yadav who can devise proper plans on how to win seats in different constituencies by using both the local issues as well as corruption and national issues as a whole. It is a tough road ahead and it might take upto 20 years to get a good foothold in Indian parliament but it is important to be consistent and not to lose hope. Hope they take the support of and if needed combine together with smaller ethical non-corrupt parties such as Loksatta party and bring their candidates from the local level.
