The ROI is not a fixed team in that way, it is made up of people who are not on national duty or otherwise and are available at this point. Link to comment

Magneto
Binny to be fair had a good domestic season in Ranji ..but Jadeja would have been a better bet, not lilkely to be in final XI anyway... I dont know why Srivastava dosent get a look in for challengers, good List A record and was in form last season...Im sure he scored a ton in last years tourno...should be there instead of Anirudha Id say... The Challengers are normally like a 'red, blue and green' team right...not played by the Domestic champs normally©Ês that a new amendment This is a new amendment and an extremely stupid one. In the Challenger Trophy, you expect to see teams of somewhat equal strengths, but this will not happen this time; how can they select the Bengal team as the third team in the Challengers when most of its players are out playing the World T20 and the India A-NZ A series? There is no Manoj Tiwary or Anustup Majumdar to bat, and neither do they have Dinda or Shami Ahmed to bowl. Saha is the only cricketer left who is of the same standards as the players of the other two teams. So, it will be no better than a club side and will get comprehensively thrashed by the other two sides. They should have instead selected a third side and accomodated some left out players or some U-19 players. Link to comment

Magneto
Why Sachin/Yadav in reserves? They both should play. Why Dhawan in middle order when Scahin can play there? Sandeep Sharma too did not anything special in FC season. Yadav should play there. Dhawan got selected and Sachin not in the team. As I'd predicted. :giggle: Link to comment

Raghav_12
I can still take Vijay because he has done well at some point in the past but Yusuf' date=' Binny, Mithun are poor selections. They should have selected a new left arm pacer instead from the likes of Suyal, Anwar, etc.[/quote'] Objective of Irani Trophy, Challenger Trophy and A tours is to find players for national team. Ranji trophy and Duleep Trophy are different in that aspect as their individual team also have motive to win trophy and you can't force a domestic team, say Railways, to put aside their best player just because he doesn't have a future with national team. But with Irani etc. it is different and these teams should be selected with a plan. I don't think Vijay is in scheme of things for test matches for India, more so when SriKanth is gone, so what is the point in picking him for Irani? Same with Yousuf Pathan. He is never gonna be a test player, so why not give opportunities to others. Link to comment

Vijay is still not completely out of the equation due to the repeated failures of Rahane and Mukund. One good season and he'll be right back in the reckoning. Link to comment
skindia
cheeka selected team?? India B has only 2 openers and India A has best openers but they have 3. cheeka made sure that both anirudhha and vijay gets chance in team..I would rather prefer uthappa instead of vijay or yusuf pathan for 4 day matches:winky: Link to comment
ShebbySB
what happened to darekar guy ? there is no consistency in selection dont think pujara will play he is already in indian team ishant hmm thats a gr8 idea actually Darekar will tour with India-A team. Link to comment
ShebbySB
Rest of India: Cheteshwar Pujara (capt), M Vijay, Ajinkya Rahane, S Badrinath, Dinesh Karthik, Wriddhiman Saha, Yusuf Pathan, Pragyan Ojha, Parvinder Awana, Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav, Shikhar Dhawan, Stuart Binny, Abhimanyu Mithun, Harmeet Singh. 1. A Rahane 2. M Vijay 3. C Pujara 4. S Badrinath 5. D Karthik 6. Y Pathan 7. W Saha 8. P Ojha 9. U Yadav 10. P Awana 11. I Sharma That is a pretty damn strong team. Long tail but the bowling line up makes up for it. I'll play Binny ahead of Yousuf as Yousuf has no realistic chance to represent India in tests & I'll also play Harmeet ahead of Ojha as Ojha is first choice in the test XI & we need to test Harmeet at the top level. Rahane has failed in every opportunity he's got at the FC Level recently (tour games in Australia and the WI series). They're still surely in contention, but will not be forever. A couple more non-performing series and their spots will open up. People surely won't be getting long ropes for 18-20 months. Link to comment
saneindian
Saurabh Tiwary from being with the Indian side 2 years ago and coming close to a WC spot is not even good enough to be in the India A or challenger sides. Also wonder why Jaggi and Shahbaz Nadeem have been completely ignored. Link to comment
Raghav_12
IN between, good to see Udit Birla's name in one of challenger's team. He had shown good temperament in few chases which MP team had accomplished last year. There is no Jalaj Saxena. Is he on A tour to NZ? Link to comment

Also wonder why Jaggi and Shahbaz Nadeem have been completely ignored. And Saurabh Tiwary scored a brilliant unbeaten century in the semis of the Deodhar Trophy. Jaggi has been in okay form this year, not great. Nadeem has lost his spot against Ojha, Harmeet and Abdullah. Ideally, there should have been an India 'C' side instead of giving Bengal a free pass and letting a bunch of club cricketers play the Challengers when more deserving people would be twiddling their thumbs.
