Pak Foreign policy Update.

As someone keenly interested in Foreign policy issues , i always keep close tabs on whats happening on the world front , especially south Asia , as it concerns us more than others. I just the saw the hardtalk interview with Pakistan's foreign minister Khurshid Kasuri with Stephen Sackur. Here is the link for it http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/hardtalk/6947617.stm And some short snippets from the interview

  • All is not well with US-Pak. US has lost patience with Pak's inability to handle extremism in its tribal areas to infiltrate into Afghanistan and assist Taliban.
  • US is also pressurizing Musharraf to give up his uniform and pave way for a democratically elected legitimate govt.

  • US has threatened unilateral action inside Pak's territory, If Pak shows inability to counter the extremist elements.
  • Pak , inturn , blames the US and West for the mess in Afghanistan. It says US glorified the Jihad in 80's , to defeat the Soviets , and now Pak is paying the price for it.

  • Pak blames the Iraq war as the main reason for the world to have lost focus in Afghanistan , and hence the problem there has grown in magnitude.

But more than that , the interview is very amusing to watch , given the almost combative tone of the Pak minister. If any of you guys remember , i had some months ago , posted the previous hardtalk interview of the same foreign minister with Hardtalk 2 and half years ago. Then , Kasuri had tried his best not to ruffle any US feathers with his statements. In this interview , it seems he has been given a license to go after the US administration. At one point he even says - " The US administration sends out mixed signals. We really cant help it if some nut case in the US calls for some stupid unilateral action" . Pak-US relations are at a tipping point. Watch this space.

The biggest foreign policy goal of Pakistanis are to support terrorism and cause havoc in India. below reports indicate that Pakis spend more than 3 billion Rs. per year only on kashmir terrorism. Their gross terrorism funding has crossed 24 billion Rs.... http://www.strategicforesight.com/cost_conflict/page23.html http://www.strategicforesight.com/cost_conflict/page22.html ......everything is known to us, still we can't act tough against Pakis, thanks to Unkil. A lot of time I feel anger about Unkil not allowing us directly to deal with these scumbags.. .I somehow have this feeling that Unkil uses Pakistanis to maintain a counter-balance over India..

And what exactly is your action plan against a nation that has nukes, apart from throwing meaningless and childish insults such as 'pukis' and 'pukistan' towards them ? Thank God we don't have the likes of you running our country or else we'd have pre-emptive war against Pakistan & China and India would end up being a radioactive wasteland.

This is exactly the dhimmi mentality we suffer from. Please be informed-- we have lost more than 3000 lives in terrorism and ISI has now well established sleeper cells all over India. Some things never change and hand wringing by dhimmi Indians is one such thing. Back then when our parliament was attacked, our reaction was same sunken deep in self- apology, although then government shown some courage and did go through an extended confrontation with that tin horn general and his sorry cast of rogues, rascals and scam artists passing off as elites of that wretched caricature of a country called Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Now, the tale has become even more of a farce. We should introinspect now whether other perceive us as some kind of "soft" power and take us for granted?? Every two bit hussler from Peshawar to Dhaka knows this answer and takes us for granted.

To start with GOI immediately should initiate following actions -- (1) India should completely stop ALL human exchange with Pakistan and also ban the trade. (2) No one in India should be allowed to visit Pakistan, and vice versa, except diplomats who should be restricted to Capitals. (3) No exchange of goods and services. (4) We should also cancel Indus water treaty, till people in Pakistan stop their regime from sending terrorists in India. But again question is same-- do our dhimmi government has balls to action even these seemingly "soft" measures -- forget military action.

I asked you a simple question. Answer that instead of rhetoric and issues you are incapable of comprehending properly.

And all these marvellous four-fold plans serve to counter terrorism directly how ? Oh and India should NEVER cancel the Indus water treaty- not unless it wants to potray itself as a barbarian nation who goes against the basic tenets of humanity- water sharing treaties are the norm between ALL countries that share rivers- withdrawl from that is like withdrawl from civilization. And if India withdraws from Indus water treaty, there is NOTHING stopping China - morally, internationally or in the UN from completely damming up the Brahmaputra and using that water elsewhere in China. Besides, your points #1-3 serve no purpose whatsoever to directly curtail terrorism and is not a counter-terrorism ploy. Pakistan doesnt absolutely need trade with India to survive or fund terrorism, so bottomline is, your action plan lacks any merit in curtailing terrorism.
