He lives in Houston (Texas), and just got married a few months ago. And now this sad news. In 2012, during the Thanksgiving weekend, Sachin Kholamkar was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) which is cancer of the blood. He is fighting for his life and needs a bone marrow transplant within the next 6-8 weeks. The number of South Asians in the bone marrow registry is very low and this makes it difficult for doctors to find him a match. Please consider registering to be a possible donor, if you live in the US. If you are a match, you could save his life. You can register at: http://www.bethematch.org It is free to register if you are under 44 years of age. During the registration process, please request a mail-in kit. They will send you this kit in about two weeks. The kit has directions to collect cheek swab and to mail the swab back to the National Marrow Donor Program. This is free of charge. I registered 10 minutes ago and committed to donate bone marrow to anyone in need. I got a phone call from my friend and he also sent me an email. Figured it wouldn't hurt to post this here.
veer Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I saw a flyer in a local desi store in Houston. I am already registered for bone marrow Us wide but let me know If they need any other help as I am in Houston also. Hope he finds a match n things work out for him.
