Partially because unlike other hits I had not heard it so often, also because I could listen to this song simply for how Lata-ji has sung. Baseraa is one of rare movies of 80s starring Shahshi Kapoor-Rakhee-Rekha, that was around human relationships during the era of angry young man. On second thoughts I wonder if there were many songs of Gulzar that were shot on Rakhee (his wife). Enjoy and see if you find some solace in the song, and be proud of the geniuses that we have produced.
dial_100 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Indeed, a very good poetry. Gulzar has a profound contribution in that whole era in making Indian cinema and film music popular world wide. Lata-Asha-Rafi-KK-Mukesh ...they all are the best 5 singers of that era.

I would love to see a music directors take on how he would pick Lata over Asha for any particular song. Or KK over Mohammed Rafi. It is amazing to hear songs that just seems to be made for the singers, so much they leave a stamp on them.
