sandtest Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 This my Sreesanth, giving opposition taste of their own medition, priceless!!:two_thumbs_up:
feverpitch Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 At last a couple of more players out of the Book of Dada: Sree and Dhoni! [we already had Yuvi, Bhajji, Sehwag and the rest of the Dada Brigade]
kumble_rocks Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 While I don't mind some aggression SS does too much for my taste quite often. And of course he'll look like an idiot when they'll lose. It's better to let the ball and bat do the talking in stead of all the theatrics. There is no shame or cowardice in it. Well said , Sir ! And if I may add some of the posters here are exhibiting double standards to such an extent that it is not even funny anymore. Some of these posters used to cry foul when losers like Afridi , Umar Gul or Nel used to indulge in their needless sledging and now want to encourage the same kind of obnoxious behavior. It's one thing to sledge subtly , but to carry on like this moron Sreesanth or Nel is a disgrace to the game. Just imho.
Bumper Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 At last a couple of more players out of the Book of Dada: Sree and Dhoni! [we already had Yuvi, Bhajji, Sehwag and the rest of the Dada Brigade] Ah the glorious aggression of the big three (dada inclusive), that saw us get whipsawed one game after the other vs the Aussies. The last time we won against them in an ODI was in a close game in Brisbane'04. Aggression is not just in the body language or showing up late to the toss. Its in the way you play the game. None of the big three can hold a candle to any of these young turks in that aspect

[b']None of the big three can hold a candle to any of these young turks in that aspect Right on Bumper, right on. I have always maintained Sreenath did not achieve as much as he could by being just a shade under-aggressive. I suppose it is time to dump Dravid, SRT in there too. Look at it this way, after Sreesanth dismissed Hayden yesteday he did not run along the pitch to the keeper, he charged right at Hayden, hit the ground and then gave Haydos a proper send off. But was that an aberration? Hell no. In last game against Saffers, RP Singh had done exactly that to Shaun Pollock. Lets move to batsmen now, after being sledged by Flintoff Yuvraj first charged at him with pointed bat and then dismissed the next great hope Stuart Broad for 6 sixes. I couldnt help but laugh thinking of Flintoff's sledging against some cr@ppy West Indies plyer that was all over the YouTube, when he met his match he came not even second best but 10th best or whatever. Not to mention how Dhoni humorously, but very firmly put his point across Shastri. Now did I ever, and I mean EVER, see a SRT or a Dravid charge at opposition? Err never! Did I ever see them get sledged and humiliated by opposition? Umpteen times. Moral of the story - this lot doesnt take cr@p. xxx
The Outsider Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Now did I ever, and I mean EVER, see a SRT or a Dravid charge at opposition? Err never! Did I ever see them get sledged and humiliated by opposition? Umpteen times. What rubbish. Tendulkar and Dravid have risen to tremendous heights in international cricket. Charge at the opposition? Remember the Dravid-Slater stand off or Dravid-Donald? Or the fact that the Aussies admitted that they always feared ruffling up Tendulkar and Lara. If you have to praise the young turks do so, but don't come across as a completely shallow poster by rubbishing what these two guys have done for Indian cricket.
Gaurav Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Sree does lot of drama but boy does it make it exciting to watch. I personally prefer Federer type compared to Nadal type... Aus and SA get away with murder but when Sree does something he gets fined  Pollock had to duck when my boy RP almost climbed on him while celebrating :two_thumbs_up:

As for sledging sachin. Why dont u ask Warne about it?

But atleast dont manufacture facts here. First up what exactly did Dravid do against Slater? ah yes Slater claimed a bumped catch and charge at umpire, then at Dravid calling him to go back to pavillion. Help me remember what exactly had Dravid done then? Charged at Slater with the bat and hit him for 6 sixes??? What about Donald-Dravid incident? Lets see that now. SRT and Dravid were going great in the game with both having hit sixes off Donald. Then Donald crosses the line, walks over to Dravid and gives him a mouthful including the four letter word. What was Dravid's reaction?? Yes he looked at Donald with a glare that could kill! I am not trying to berate Dravid and SRT here but you have got to give me similar example as to what Yuvraj did to Freddie and Broad. In other words that Dravid smacked Donald(or Slater) black and blue after the incident. or else give the current lod the credit that what they have done is unprecedented. xxxx

The Outsider Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 In other words that Dravid smacked Donald(or Slater) black and blue after the incident. Dravid, in the company of Laxman, won that series and drew the next series in Australia for us. Send these young turks of yours to Australia for the upcoming tour and a 0-4 scoreline is a guarantee. Even in that SA match, Dravid scored a run a ball 80 odd after the incident. Please, if you start doubting the mental toughness of guys like Dravid and Tendulkar then you have seriously forgotten a lot of cricket. What did your mentally tough 6 sixes in an over in hit and giggle Yuvraj do when Tendulkar was injured in the '04 Aussie series. Glove it to Gilchrist. Or in the WI tour last year. An average of 17!!!:hysterical:

Even during their hey days, SRT & Dravid played McGrath purely on his reputation (In the 1999 series Down Under, SRT played out one maiden after another off McGrath). Even oflate, in many ODIs, SRT & Dravid's strategy has been to see off McGrath, as opposed to taking him to the cleaners. I dont have the slightest of doubts in my mind that Aussies would have won with 10 overs to spare if SRT, Ganguly & Dravid had batted in the top 3. They never realised that the few times we've beaten the Aussies in must win games (in ICC CT), we've managed so by attacking them. One or two examples of aggression wont change an impression that these guys have created by a career spanning close to a decade. Its the way the big three played their cricket in general. Perhaps years of losing had made them think that way ? I dont know. The young ones have no such memories haunting them. They just go out there and have a ball. Its refreshing to see such attitude after witnessing decades of suicidal pu$$y marching.

I'd rather have my batsman play in such a way, that the bowler has nightmares about him, rather than him going and abusing the bowlers mom.

Sorry but that is not being referred here. I ask you again, please check the video of Dravid-Slater and see how timid Dravid comes across, specially when compared to what Yuvraj did to Freddie. Go ahead, tell me I am wrong. xxxx
The Outsider Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Even during their hey days, SRT & Dravid played McGrath purely on his reputation (In the 1999 series Down Under, SRT played out one maiden after another off McGrath). Even oflate, in many ODIs, SRT & Dravid's strategy has been to see off McGrath, as opposed to taking him to the cleaners. Name one batsman who can claim to have dominated McGrath consistently at his peak. He is arguably the best fast bowler ever and no Pietersen averaging 50 against him, when he was 35+ does not count. Tendulkar averages the same against McGrath at his peak. There is no way that a bowler like him and as good as him can be taken to the cleaners. That's a fact and there is no batsman to have proved it wrong.

I'd rather have my batsman play in such a way, that the bowler has nightmares about him, rather than him going and abusing the bowlers mom. You sure can think like that and in the same vein also realize that maybe thats how we have always played our cricket? The example you referred - Dravid/Slater incident, I just checked. Slater charges at Dravid, tells him to go back, Dravid stands his ground with his head moving from side to side, suggesting perhaps "This aint cricket". In similar situation what did yuvraj did? First do the physical aggression and then let his bat do the talk. Not very different to what Zaheer Khan had done earlier with jelly-bean. Why do we have to have one or the other? That is be polite and let bat do the talking? I say yuvraj/zaheer have given me sights(in aggresson) that dravid/sachin did not. Prove me wrong. xxx

BTW, the 35+ McGrath won his first ever world cup MVP in his last hurrah. So much for his age! What set apart from McG from other fast bowlers, was his ability to hold his own, even in his last years. So i dont think McG's age is an excuse for putting Pietersen's feats down. Its no coincidence that a Pietersen as opposed to an Ian Bell or a Jacques Kallis type player dominated McGrath.
Predator_05 Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 ANyone who says that Tendulkar has never charged at opposition knows jacksh*t about cricket or probably just hasn't watched Tendulkar play at his peak. (In the 1999 series Down Under' date=' SRT played out one maiden after another off McGrath). ..[/quote'] What trash. Care to give me a few examples of Tendulkar playing out maidens against McGrath ? Dravid was the one who did that. Tendulkar attacked in every single innings he played on that tour, but you obviously didn't watch a ball of that series
Lurker Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Shwetabh. I suppose you were referring to this incident here. Please tell me how do you see Dravid aggressive here Gi_t10pGN5g

That was zaheer there too. Yes, it looks fun, all masala entertainment, but is that necessarily the best way to go about it? I dont think so. Check this out.. this is an interview of shane warne, where he talks about sledging.... [ame] [/ame] I would advise you to see the whole interview, (this is part 4), but atleast see part 4, where he concentrates on sledging. More importantly, see from 2:36/9:48 onwards.....
