vayuu1 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Tehseen Akhtar, who is allegedly the chief of banned terrorist group Indian Mujahideen (IM) in India, was arrested by the special cell of Delhi Police on Tuesday. Akhtar’s arrest came days after the Delhi Police arrested a top IM operative Zia-ur-Rehman, alias Waqas, a Pakistani national wanted in several bombings, with three associates in Rajasthan, claiming the group was planning a big strike during the Lok Sabha elections. Akhtar is being questioned by the anti-terrorism branch of the Delhi Police and central intelligence agencies. He was allegedly involved in the Mumbai, Pune and Hyderabad blasts and security analysts believe his arrest will weaken the IM considerably. Mohammad Zarar Siddibappa alias Yasin Bhatkal, after his arrest on August 29 last year, had told investigators that Akhtar, 23, was the operational India head of the IM, dealing directly with Karachi-based top IM operative Riyaz Bhatkal. The National Investigation Agency had declared a reward of Rs. 10 lakh for information on Akhtar's whereabouts. He is originally a resident of Maniarpur village in Samastipur district of Bihar. Waqas and Akhtar alias Monu were planning a suicide attack to disrupt the summer’s national elections, a Delhi Police officer had earlier said. “BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was their prime target. Besides, some spectacular strikes in the national capital and tourist places in Rajasthan were also being planned,” said the officer, adding plans were afoot to get new recruits through the banned Students Islamic Movement of India to boost presence in the National Capital Region. The 25-year-old Waqas, who comes from Pakistani Punjab, was arrested from Ajmer railway station in the desert state after a two-month chase that started in Nepal Good catch by Delhi Police,Rot in hell madar chowd. sent from dil se
