Mr. Wicket
Steve Bucknor and Aleem Dar, the two umpires who stood in the World Cup Final earlier this year, have struggled with visa problems which prevented them from standing in the first Test between Australia and Sri Lanka at Brisbane. The South African, Rudi Koertzen and Tony Hill, from New Zealand, were rushed in at the last moment to officiate, though Cricket Australia didn't receive notification that Hill was replacing Dar until 36 hours before the Test was due to start. "Bucknor forgot to fill in his via in time," a source told The Australian, "and when he realised his mistake he was forced to pull out. Aleem filled in the wrong form." Dar is expected to arrive in time for the second Test at Hobart, but Koertzen will stand in both matches. © Cricinfo Right, so from hereon, just make sure Bucknor gets the wrong visa application deadlines and/or the wrong forms. And the most mediocre umpire in world cricket will not ruin things by his presence. Link to comment
