Amazing batsman.

Not many batters have been able to score big runs this consistently against SA in SA.      :hatsoff:

I think there has been a big chance in SA ODIs since the past 10 yrs or so though - this can be seen from looking at the avg scores. Not taking anything from Kohli's amazing run of form, but these pitches are something that he understands/knows quite well.

If that were the case then Rohit and co. would be scoring runs too.

SA pitches still have more bounce and seam movement.

I cannot recall any good innings by Rohit in SA (or even against SA) off the top of my head. Dhawan has been doing very well, and I attribute it partly to the pitches as well.

Personally, I think that the advent of T20s have contributed a lot to that.

Batters have a much wider range of strokes these days and T20s have also made them beleive that scoring at 6 or 7 runs an over is nothing.

Another aspect is ... after hitting genuine fast bowlers in T20s, their aura is gone from the mind of the batsmen especially in ODIs and T20Is.

Flip side is ... batters these days have much poorer off-stump games and  ability to stay at the crease when needed.

I have seen lots of flat pitches in the '80s, '90s and early 2000s too.

Dhawan has impressive averages in Australia and England as well.

Rahane has done well and he is a pace and bounce specialist who fails in Asia.

Not just Rohit ... the others, apart from the ones I mentioned , have not succeeded.

Take this pitch for example ... had good pace and bounce for the first 30 overs.

True, but we knew that VK was miles ahead of Rohit anyway. And this was certainly one of Cool's best ever innings.
