The Outsider
I think the WI had a unbeatable run after that series against Ind where we chased down 400 in the 4th inngs ... as Lloyd got rid of all the spinners and went with 4 fast bowlers .... They were defeated by NZ in 1980 largely due to umpires, but defeated nonetheless!! Link to comment

Dhondy
Here are a few more random stats, Boss. 1. When Zaheer and RP Singh opened the bowling against Hayden and Jaques, it was the first time since 29 January 2006 when all four men in action had been left handers at the start of the match. On that occasion, in Karachi, Zaheer and Pathan had opened the bowling against Butt and Farhat. Zaheer and RP were in tandem in England against left handed openers Strauss and Cook, but in that series, it was Sreesanth, who had opened the bowling with Zaheer, with RP Singh bowling first change. 2. This is the first time in 2 years that Ricky Ponting was out, bowled. The last occasion was on 19 November 2005, by Fidel Edwards. 3. India have almost equalled in one day the number of wickets taken by Sri Lanka in two Tests against Australia, which was 11. Link to comment

kumble_rocks
Brilliant stuff BB ! Looking at the bowled stats , I would think VVS would have somehow made to the top of the list had we averaged the bowled dismals by number of innings . Link to comment
Guest Hiten.
I am bit surprised by reading SRT's name in the list of B + LBW. I thought he is one of the best when it comes to flicking the ball of the pads Link to comment

Ram
I wonder for how much longer Kumble can continue. Link to comment
theguyinallblue
actually its good that Kumble is onlyh playing in test cricket... he can surely play for another 18 months or so...in top form. we are playing some 15+ tests in next 18 months... also i would like to see Kumble taking Piyush Chawla as his understudy and guide him in few test series... After Kumble..Piyush is the one..who is most likely to pick his batton.. Link to comment

The numbers clearly show that Kumble has been the best bowler against the all conquering Aussie lineup(along with Ambrose but his number of wickets are quite less) which has been loaded with great batsmen over the past few years. It will be a fitting tribute to him when he reaches 100 test wickets against them during this series becoming the only bowler by some distance to have such a record against perhaps the best ever cricket team.
