PATHETIC...

Recommended Posts

I checked Cricinfo and saw 230 odd for 3, 30 overs gone, Dravid and Sachin at the crease. That, to me, was a guaranteed near 400 score. It is fucking criminal that I logged in to see 268 all out after that, that is a fuck up beyond even the capabilities of our team I would have thought, so thank you guys for proving me wrong. Bunch of gutless pussies, no-one can play like that and say they have pride in their nation. With a world cup looming, this is a disgrace, and the ultimate response would be to drop some of these so-called established players from the World cup squad, bringing in some new talent. It might sound crazy, but we'd have as good a chance of doing well in the tournament like that, than we do now...

Re: PATHETIC... Romesh Powar is turning out to be a rather useless bat. The guy is an allrounder only in the physical sense. Gambhir has decided 1 in 3 matches is good enough. KKD has decided that consecutive match heroics are not needed to keep his place in the team. And on a side note, Sreesanth is turning out to be a rather useless ODI bowler.

Re: PATHETIC... :lmao: @Yoda Kumble looked out of sorts Yuvraj looked out of sorts Robin looks like a FTB of the highest order. No back foot play whatsoever. Shree cannot bowl in odi's don't play him. Someone needs to get hold of him and show him the way. Power is not an allrounder Both Dravid and Sachin throw their wickets away at the worst time possible. blah bla blah.....

Re: PATHETIC... I actually thought there were a lot of positives form this match. result not that important. The return to form of sachin and dravid, both look good and timing their form for the wc. both got fluent 50's. Uthappa was awesome, could be in staring line up for WC if carries on like this. Yuvrajs knee looked fine and he pulled of some great stops in field. Has 2 months to find his touch for wc and will. Proved his fitness. Aggy bowled well.

extreme response You guys need to calm down, yes it is very disappointing to see such a paltry effort by the rest of the batting line-up, and I think even more disappointing to see the pathetic bowling display. Let us, however, analyze the positivies and negatives of the game. Positives: 1. Uthappa -- has to play, period. He's a winner, he really is, he flayed the highest score for an Indian on ODI Debut, has had a rollicking domestic season, and demonstrated his absolutely destructive abilities today. 2. Tendulkar and Dravid finding form, they both were struggling for a bit, Tendulkar more so and its good to see him back in the runs. Moreover, it seems like Tendulkar has set in his mind that he is no longer a master-blaster so it makes more sense for him to be an accumulator in the middle-overs. I also agree with everyone who thinks Dravid should come at the 5 because of his versatility as a batsman. 3. Agarkar -- this is a prime example of Agarkar as an underrated player, he was by leaps and bounds the best bowler on the squad today but his performance will go unnoticed because of the loss and his reputation as a "run-leaker" He's by no means brilliant but certainly one of the better options we have, and absolutely better than sreesanth. Negatives: 1. Batting Line-Up folding like a deck of cards -- This is not a reflection of the Indian batting line-up but of their mentality adn attitude. It is highly worrisome that nobody wants to step up and play a match winning innings. Think of the countless times, Hussey has walked in after a top order collapse, yet that man just decides that he is going to take over the match and does so. This is what I was hoping Chappell would instill in our boys, that hunger, that drive to win. It is highly problematic when we squander such a great performance by the previously failing top order...esp so close to the WC 2. Pathetic Bowling -- Barring Agarkar, everyone else was terrible. Most notably Sreesanth, and while I hopped on his bandwagon for the tests, I was always concerned about his abilities in ODIs. With the game tilted so much in favor for the batsmen, bowlers cannot afford to be even remotely profligate. Sreesanth will have to turn out some phenomenal performances to keep his spot on the team. Kumble's porous bowling illustrated why he was dropped in the first place. He does not spin the ball at all, and can easily be hit for numerous boundaries (shudder...at the memories of Saeed Anwar taking him apart for his record breaking top ODI score.) Powar I think is still doing quite well especially in the bowling department, although, his batting has been very disappointing. Lets talk Personnel: Definites for WC: 1. Dravid 2. Tendulkar 3. Ganguly 4. Dhoni 5. Kaartik 6. Uthappa 7. Agarkar 8. Zaheer Khan 9. Harbajjan Singh Question Marks: 1. Munaf Patel 2. Irfan Khan Pathan 3. Gambhir 4. Sehwag 5. Yuvraj Definite No-Nos: 1. Raina -- just too little too late...sorry kiddo your a phenom for the future....hopefully. 2. Joginder Sharma -- his bad luck to be tested for 1 match right before wc, does deserve a stint of 5 games at least to prove himself. 3. RP Singh 4. Kaif 5. Dinesh Mongia Here's My starting 11 Ideal Starting Line-Up (assuming people come back in form) 1. Uthappa 2. Ganguly 3. Sehwag/Yuvraj 4. Tendulkar 5. Dravid 6. Dhoni 7. IK Pathan 8. Harbajjan Singh 9. Agarkar 10. Zaheer Khan 11. Munaf Patel IMP: Positions 3, 7, and 11 are up for grabs 3 can be filled by Kaartik, maybe seeing Tendulkar promoted to the 3 and Kaartik at the 4... 7...Maybe another batsman (Kaartik...Yuvraj...Sehwag...depending on form of 4 players...) 11. I really hope Munaf comes back, I think we could be a really devastating bowling side with a 4 pronged fast bowling attack and Bhajji/Tendulkar/Sehwag with the slow bowling options.

Re: PATHETIC... Told you guys. They'll win a couple of meaningless matches (or Masala Dosa ODIs, as Anu calls them), and sit back and genuflect. Massive heartbreak ahead for all concerned, methinks. Good job I gave up on the losers. Nothing touches me now. Why let these also-rans control your emotions?

That is the kind of expectations the Indian fan usually has. Ideally the fan wants 50 players tested but the team should win non stop. Also not one player should fail and if he does then the axe should fall on him. India has failed often recently because their choice of personnel was bad. Now they are trying to identify few good ones by trying to give everyone a chance. I don't see anything wrong with that considering India has won 2 ODIs already. I don't care about the results of these ODIs as long as we are able to recognized the right men for the World cup.

gentry here is well educated in cicketing matters hence more than knee-jerk castigation of the team based on the eventual match result is expected from us. :wtg:
