kthanksbye Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Was reading Jarrod Kimber's latest article on Cricinfo about the Ind-Aus rivalry. Which made me think of this, that although India has a good status in cricket and a lot of money. We have never dominated it like the WI of 80's or Australia of late 90's and 00's. With IPL and a lot of money coming into our cricket infrastructure. Do you guys see Indian cricket dominating the 20's like the previous great teams? PS- My endeavor here is to have good meaningful conversations with fellow cricket enthusiasts. So, let us keep it to that. kthanksbye
HippoSucks Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I do not see this current team, or a team built from the good players in the domestic tournament, to form a team that dominates world wide. Australia or South Africa will likely serve that dominating role for the next few years (although not as extensively as the past Australian or West Indies team). Maybe in the upcoming generation of cricketers...
HippoSucks Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 The quality of our batting is better than whats coming thru from Aus or SA . Bowling could be better . I'm not sure of the domestic cricket in South Africa, but Australia does have several good batting prospects in Test. And their current Test batsman are not planning to retire any time soon (except Clarke, Haddin and Watson who are not impact players anyway). We do have some batting talent in our domestic circle and some of our current batsman are good as well.
kthanksbye Posted March 25, 2015 Author Posted March 25, 2015 I do see some promise in the bowling area and coz of IPL we might if not today but in a few years develop a Maxwell like player. To be honest India has never been considered a top side like Aus and SA always have been or even the 90's Pakistan. So, if we cannot reach their even in five years what exactly are we doing?
