Jordan was great not simply due to his skillset, but his mental strenght as well. His skills were first rate. Offensively, I think Kobe Bryant matched and possibly even surpassed his scoring ability. If not, Kobe came closest to MJ. But MJ was a much better defensive player. He was also supremely confident and competitive. He made his team mates better than they actually were. No one else has done that. BJ Armstrong, Steve Kerr, Horace Grant, Bill Cartwright, Toni Kukoc, even Scottie Pippen...none of those guys achieved anything signficant except with MJ.

Isn't NBA championships played every year and an American domestic tournament ? How can it be compared to a multinational world cup that comes around once in 4 years ?Its more apt comparing with IPL

He also batted low down in the batting order and was probably a better bowler than batsman at that stage. A non-regular in Natal's "B" team and a bits and pieces player back then. Good call, he really turned things around.

I do not think there is any equivalent of MJ in cricket. The man has been to 6 NBA finals and won all of them, being the best player of the finals in all 6 of them. So that is insane. If there is someone worth mentioning in all of sports over the last 40 or 50 years in terms of being clutch in big moments and winning when it mattered the most in terms of volume, it has to be Michael Phelps.
