the ipl has been fantastic this year for me. No clear front runner.

The thing with IPL though, even it is interesting, it never generates passion like an international game. I was reading in other forum too where few people are comparing world cup with IPL. Thats disgusting. Don't take me wrong, i like IPL but the next morning I get up I even forget who played last night. It is a simple entertainment gig with no passion at all. I hope they do not introduce this mini IPL or whatever they are trying to do. It will overkill it. If they really want to do something during champions league window, why not have a 50 over tourney between top 4 IPL teams? Or a 5 day first class game between top 2 IPL team? Atleast that will keep the original IPL exclusive and give something new to audience.

That's because of the bs auctions they have every year. They need to stop that and give more power to the franchises on how they want to run their team. Only then will there be some consistency with the team, and familiar faces will always be associated with certain team which in turn creates a following. When players are thrown around the league like farm animals, passion and following the league every year becomes hard.

So say if Chris Gayle is playing fr RCB he should not play fr other clubs unless that club buys him from an IPL team. That will create good competition. Now players considers IPL as 2 months break from real cricket and money making tool for little work. There is not much passion. Its like saying Messi plays for Barcelona and at the same time also plays for Man united.

Ipl only has 8 teams, just have 2 groups of 4, semi final then final. That'll only be 15 matches and can be completed in 12 days.
